Civil War Project

Objective: In groups of four or five students, pick one of the following topics to do a presentation
on.

1. Examine the role and views of LEADERS (e.g., Ulysses S. Grant, Robert E. Lee) and
SOLDIERS on both sides of the war, including those of black soldiers and regiments.

2. Explain how the war affected combatants, CIVILIANS (women and children), the physical
environment, especially the effects of the war on the South, and future warfare.

3. Identify the major BATTLE military strategies, geographical advantages and obstacles,
technological advances, and medical care of troops.

4. Compare and contrast the GOVERNMENT of the North led by Abraham Lincoln to that of
the South led by Jefferson Davis, and the effects of the Emancipation Proclamation on the
war.

2.SONG that covers your topic using Garageband & iMovie
3.COMIC BOOK story using Comic Life
4.MAGAZINE using Pages
5.GAME that others could play to learn about your topic.

Requirements

Originality (20 pts)


The product shows significant evidence of originality and inventiveness.
The majority of the content and many of the ideas are fresh, original, inventive, and are based
upon sound research.
The media project reflects a willingness to take risks.

Subject Knowledge (20 pts)


Subject knowledge is evident throughout.
Clear evidence that higher level thinking skills were used in the creation of this project.
All information is clear, appropriate, and correct.

Presentation (20pts)
Presentation is neat and orderly
Project is well prepared and well presented
Presentation teaches content to others in a memorable way

TOTAL: 60 pts
