AUSSIE
UNDERDOG
The 21st of February saw the second
instalment of this years Max Muay Thai
75 kilo four-man tournament.
In the inal, Australias Millad Farzad
faced Remy Vectol of France, who came
through a very tough semi-inal against
the Thai ighter Ekkapop Dr Tunighter.
Remy started the inal as favourite, but,
after a couple of hard elbows from Millad
in the opening round, seemed to lose a
bit of heart for the ight. Millad controlled
the ring well from that point on,
dominating the clinch and out-scoring
Remy with solid kicks and knees.
Remy rallied a little in the inal round,
but it wasnt enough and Millad took
the decision and the 200,000 baht prize,
earning his place in the Ultimate 4-man
tournament later in the year.

FAR NORTH
REUNION
More than 100 former kickboxers, boxers and martial
artists have attended a reunion in Far North Queensland.
Organised by former Australian kickboxing champion
Paul Gibson and former WBO Intercontinental Lightweight
champion Justin Roswell, the meet-up saw guests reunite
and form a whos who of Far North Queensland kickboxing
and boxing.
Held at the Cherry Street Sports Club, guests exchanged
past stories and memories while also enjoying a game of
barefoot bowls. No money was made from the event.
Gibson said his highlight of the day was bringing
everyone back together from across the country.
It gave me a sense of happiness and achievement
seeing one another face to face after so many years. Its
also one of my ways to mend fences from the past and
build bridges for the future and start getting blokes that are
well known for ighting to pass the word to the younger
generations that coward punches arent cool.
Guests included Athol McQueen (Olympic champion),
Geoff Peate (light-heavyweight champion), Peter Roberts
(4th Dan Goju Kai Karate), Bevan Connor (Australian
Masters champion) and John Wright (international referee
and judge).
Gibson plans for another reunion next year with
individuals who were not in attendance this time around.

of how highly regarded he is.
This was an extremely special occasion and a great
honour for us as we have been travelling to Hong Kong for

PAUL DALEY
VS. WANDERLEI SILVA
Daley has been calling out Silva ever
since it was rumoured that Silva
was signing with Bellator ater his
relationship drastically deteriorated
with the UFC. Silva is a legend in his
own right in mixed martial arts and
has a reputation for wanting to stand
and trade punches until he either
wins or dramatically loses.
With his strength being his
willingness to stand and trade,
and no risk of putting a loss on his
mixed martial arts record, this is a
no-brainer for Silva, who is entering
the twilight stages of an impressive
career. Silva doesnt quite have a
kickboxing background, but he does
have a background in scrapping, and
thats exactly what youd expect to see
if he met Daley inside the ring.
Daley has had a lot of experience,
both inside the ring as a kickboxer
as well as inside the cage as a mixed
martial artist. Daley has gone on an
impressive run under the Bellator
banner, winning three mixed martial
arts bouts in a row as well as his
kickboxing bout on the Bellator:
Dynamite event. Daley is a world
champion kickboxer, and inside
the ring he would certainly display
a lot better technique than Silva
and its highly likely that under
kickboxing rules, the bout would be
a fairly lopsided afair. Daley would
more than likely walk away with an
impressive victory but its a win-win
ight for Bellator. Silvas legacy as a
mixed martial artist isnt tarnished,
and Daley would notch up another
impressive name for his resume.

TOP 5 KICKBOXING FIGHTS FOR BELLATOR
MICHAEL PAGE
VS. RAYMOND DANIELS
Styles make ights and in the
case of both Page and Daniels,
style is something that they
both have an exorbitant
amount of. Both men are
living highlight-reels, and both
put on an entertaining display
when they compete that truly
has to be seen to be believed. If
these two showmen met inside
the kickboxing ring, sparks
would ly and there is no doubt
that the crowd would be on
the edge of their seats for the
entirety of the bout.
Page has yet to taste defeat
as a professional in mixed
martial arts and has been
built up slowly but surely by
Bellator. No matter who Page
ights, he goes into the bout
with an air of conidence like
no other. Combine that with
his natural talent and its a
recipe for success. Page would
have nothing to lose in a
kickboxing bout with Daniels
and with him being built up
to be the next big thing for
Bellator inside their mixed
martial arts cage, its likely
that theyd be willing to take
the risk in matching him up
with Daniels, solely because of
just how good the end result
would be.
Daniels has already
committed to ighting under
the Bellator Kickboxing
banner for their irst event.
A win, and an entertaining
one at that, would certainly
pave the way for a showdown
with Page. Daniels made a
name for himself early on in
his career competing in the
World Combat League, where
he became the promotions
biggest star with his lashy
techniques and aggressive
style. No matter who he ights,
Daniels puts on a show, and its
that exact reason that Bellator
has already signed him up
for their debut event in the
kickboxing world.

MELVIN MANHOEF
VS. JOHN WAYNE PARR
Parr may be coming to the en nd of his
career, but that doesnt mean hes lost any
of the name value that he hass built up
over so many years of compeeting. Bellator,
with its mixed martial arts evvents, has
become renowned for putting on ights
that the everyday fan wants to see.
Parr is coming of a loss at his Caged
Muay hai event in early Marrch; however,
the 39-year-old hasnt exactly indicated
that hes planning to hang up the gloves
any time soon. At this stage of his career,
Parr can look for ights that arre going

Parr to put his hand up.
Manhoef is slated to comp pete

Manhoef has had a return
to form with an impressive
knockout victory over Hisaki
Kato being his last win for
Bellator. Manhoef is renowneed
for his entertaining style, andd
thats something he has taken n

If Manhoef succumbs to an nother
defeat inside the ring, a bout
with Parr, who is also comingg of
a loss, would make perfect sen nse.
Even though the two may nott
