The story is a study of power imbalance brought about by genders. In

the middle of the play were in the kingdom of Borneo, their Sultan named
Makatunaw who was very greedy and violent on his actions clearly illustrates
the gender dominance in the past years in the Philippines. He slave all of the
girls he like and abused them. Everything he sees and wants, he always gets.
On the other hand he rips off the head of the people if they were against on
him or he doesnt like. The acts shows in the play how the power of
dominance in gender really happened were Sultan Makatunaw abused the
girls sexually that he even makes all of them as his wife. He forces to make a
performance in front of him like to dance and even kiss them individually
even the girls didnt like it. Many years of slavery happened on girls that they
cant have even contact with their parents. One of the girls he was slave
named Amaya who was now dead because she commits suicide after she
was being raped by the Sultan. Moreover the father of Amaya named Datu
Puti who is against all of the Sultans decision was really mad and angry of
the death of their child without any justice given. This gender imbalance
really reflects our Filipino culture before that man is more dominant
compared to women. That a woman cannot do the things men can. And even
the rights of women are not being observed before. But this days gender
equality exists in the Philippines.
