COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT REPORT

Project Name: TYPHO (Take Your F. Hand Off)

Purpose of Project: To develop children and teachers knowledges about all kind of child

abuse.

At the beginning of the project, we thought that we go to public schools and

implement general- personal space activities with children. For this purpose we started to

search several public school and tried to communicate with them. In that period, we reached

three different school. This schools are Akemsettin Primary school, Ahmet Andien Primary

School and Arjantin Primary School. These all three school have kindergartens inside of it.

We only talked with them by telephone. They had a lot of works, according to they said. For

this reason, they postponed us for almost three week. At the end of third week, we had

reservation from two of them. They were Ahmet Andien Primary School and d Arjantin

Primary School. Although, we mentioned about out project before we went to schools, both

acted like they have no idea about us and our project so they wanted to explanation about it

one more time. After the explanation, they wanted official paper from Ministry of Education

but we didnt have one. They said that we cannot access classes without it. After that, we

thought to take permission and communicated with our classmates because we knew they

tried to take permission for a different project. They said they couldnt be taken any

permission for projects because of State of Emergency so we decided talked with our

instructor. He said we can set up a group to publish our activities online.

 Finally, we thought that if we couldnt reach children, maybe we can reach other

people who can reach them. So we set up a Facebook group and added some families and

teachers to it. In this group, we mentioned about our purpose. Also, we used Turkish as a

language because families are not educated and dont know English. Then we started to share

some text, videos and pictures. These took attention of parents so the number of participants

increased. We started to take several questions from parents and tried to answer them by

searching some articles. Following this, we shared some activities too. Before we share the

activities, we arranged them in order that families can apply them at homes. Also, we add

some pictures and music as materials for activities. We took positive feedbacks from families.

They asked several questions about applying of activities. Our Facebook group is still

available.

In addition to these, we prepared a poster for our projects presentation. We wanted to

impress people. Thats why we created our poster interactively. We had a lot of opinions, but

we know the most easy way to impress people is to discomfort them so we used a trouser that

is opened its zipper. Additionally, we preferred giving information about child abuse on our

poster instead of the process of our project.

To conclude, although all problems, we believe that we achieved our purpose and

reached many people and our project is beneficial for children. To be part of a community

service is felt us responsible and successful. It is a difficult to manage things but it makes

happy at the end of process.
