The NATA 2017 comprises of two examinations namely Drawing Test and General

Aptitude & Mathematics. The candidates need to clear both the examination to get
a good score to clear the examination. The NATA syllabus for both the papers is
mentioned below:

Syllabus for NATA Drawings

The NATA 2017 exam paper-1 is of 90 minutes. It will test the sketching and
visualization activity of the candidate. So there is no well-defined syllabus but it is
advised to practice questions on the basis of following criteria:

Ability to sketch a given object proportionately and rendering the same in visually
appealing manner.

Visualizing and drawing the effects of light on the object and shadows cast on
surroundings.

Sense of perspective drawing.

Geometric composition, shape, building forms and elements, aesthetics, color

texture, harmony and contrast.

Combining and composing given three-dimensional elements to form a building or

structural form.

Creating interesting two-dimensional compositions using given shapes and forms.

Creating visual harmony using colors in given composition.

Understanding of scale and proportions of objects.

Drawing from memor

Again there is no well-defined syllabus for Paper-2. For NATA 2017, this test will be
conducted in an offline mode. The marks will be awarded in case the candidate has
answered the question preceding the present question correctly. The General
Aptitude test measures perception, imagination and observation, creativity and
communication along with architectural awareness. Given below is the criteria on
which the candidates will be tested:

NATA Sample Papers

Important Changes in NATA Exam

CoA, conducting body of NIFT has changed the mode of exam and has also made
few updates. The NATA 2017 exam schedule which had a window of 3 months will
now be a single day scenario. Both of the papers will take place on the same day.
The last date for NATA 2017 Registration is February 11, 2017. Following are the
changes which are made in the exam pattern of NATA:

For the year 2017, the exam (Paper 1 and Paper 2) will be conducted in an Offline
mode.

Now, in Aesthetic Sensitivity test i.e. General Aptitude Test, mathematics subject is
also introduced.

Next, each paper will be of 90 minutes. And the total number of questions will be
62.

NATA 2017 Marking Scheme

The marking scheme is cumulative in approach. NATA 2017 Paper 1 is checked by 3

examiners. These examiners give marks independently. During Paper 2, an
applicant is provided question matching the ability of the candidate. A Statistical
approach is followed for calculation of marks.

Factors on which the sections are scored:

Candidates can score good in NATA 2017, if they focus on the factors on which each
section is scored. There will be no re-evaluation conducted and any application
asking for a revaluation for any of the section will not be entertained.

For NATA General Aptitude & Mathematics Section- The difficulty level of questions
in this section is based on the answer from the previous question. For example, if
the answer to a particular question is correct, the next question will be of a higher
difficulty level. Similarly, if the answer is wrong, the difficulty level of the next
question will be lower. The factors on which the questions are presented to the
candidate are as follows:

The statistical characteristics (including difficulty level) of the questions that have
already been answered.
The required variety of question types for NATA 2017 Exam.

The appropriate coverage of content regarding Architecture.

For NATA Drawing Section- The drawing section will be assessed on the following
factors:

The Candidates NATA drawings

Imagination used in making the drawing in NATA exam.

Observation skills which are reflected through the drawing

Candidates sense of proportion and perspective in the drawing

Candidates sense and use of colour and composition in the drawing
