Project Title:

Agora Creek Water Quality, Area Improvement and Awareness Campaign

Background of the project: (Please state the context that accompany or influence the initiation
of your project. Please make it brief.)

One of the pressing problems plaguing our generation is water pollution. Not all communities
are aware of this situation and this may lead to the worsening of this unaddressed issue.

Description: (Briefly describe the nature of your project. Please state also your project/
program’s goals/ objectives.)

The ENSET (Environment, Natural Sciences, Engineering and Technology) cluster aims to
increase public awareness about the worsening situation of water contamination and area
degradation in the Agora Creek. Using Quantitative Water Analysis, ecosystem research and
area engineering, we can provide concrete evidence and probable solutions to justify this
awareness campaign. This project affords the cluster members an opportunity to use their skills
to help solve the environmental problems in the target community.

Concept:

Providing an awareness campaign and probable solutions to the affected households along the
Agora Creek using different fields of science and engineering.

Project Stage: Duration:

conceptualizing 8 months

Target Total Participants/ Beneficiaries:

All of the population in the agora creek area

Target Age Range of Participants/ Beneficiaries:

Adolescents and adults

Target Participants/ Beneficiaries:

1. Households in the surrounding areas of Agora Creek

2. Sangguniang Kabataan, Barangay Councils
3. XU student community

Selection of Participants/ Beneficiaries:

- Criteria
1. Adolescents and adults living in the affected area
2. Members of Sangguniang Kabataan and Barangay Councils
3. Residents willing to cooperate with the proposed project
4. XU students willing to take part

- Process
1. Participants of the forum/symposium will be selected through the recommendation of
SK Officials and the Barangay Captain
2. Info about the findings of the project will be disseminated to the XU students through an
info-dissemination drive
3. An Open volunteer recruitment for XU students for the cleanup drive will be

Attainment of Objectives:

- In addressing the needs of the beneficiaries

1. The project is both a preventive and intervening approach to provide residents with
awareness of their situation, probable solutions to their environmental problem and
give them a means of airing out their concerns. With the help of the cluster’s
technical capabilities, residents will be able to understand the true seriousness of
their situation.

- Project Sustainability
1. ENSET along with the LGUs in the area will have a continuous monitoring of the
project for the next 5 years.
2. The water analysis will be done yearly for 5 years so that the development of the
area will be monitored
3. Statistics and profile of the people will also be updated yearly
4. The online database will also be updated yearly.

- Long term impact of the project on its beneficiaries even after their involvement in the
project
1. Having been enlightened about their area’s situation, the residents will be better
equipped with the knowledge of how to prevent any further degradation.
2. The Government Officials invited to the symposium cum forum can articulate their
commitment towards the remedying of locals’ problem following the
recommendations made by cluster representatives and concerned NGOs.

Xavier University ENSET cluster aims to provide technical assistance through utilizing scientific
knowledge for the benefit of the community at large.

Project Benefits: An outline of what the benefits are to the organization, individuals or
stakeholders in delivering the project

1. Provide venue for the applications of the concepts and

principles learned at school
2. Improve target population’s quality of life

one line or more detailed text.

To promote awareness to community about the:

1. Prevailing problems in their environment specifically their
respective creek
2. Possible solutions and steps to be taken for the improvement
of the creek in their area
To provide waste management and disaster management schemes

Project Deliverables: What you will be delivering at the end of the project. NOTE: these
are what you will have at the end of the project, e.g. a report, a
building, improved service levels etc.
