1. Article From Free Malaysia Today Website

KUALA LUMPUR: Unemployment is expected to rise next year as the

government freezes new posts, the corporate sector slows down and the
construction industry employs expatriates for high-paying jobs.

Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming said two years ago, the unemployment rate was
below 3%, compared with 3.5% now.

The unemployment rate might still seem low, but even a 0.5% hike in a 14
million workforce would cause 70,000 Malaysians to be out of jobs.

Ong said the number of jobless Malaysians could be higher as professionals

go into business after failing to sustain jobs.

Unemployment in absolute terms might be higher.

He also warned that many sectors would slow down next year.

Uncertainties are expected as more professionals might lose jobs or find it

harder to get jobs.

They might open small food stalls to make money, said the former
economics and policy science lecturer.

He said the government was the key employer but it would only replace
retirees in the civil sector. There wont be any new posts.

Chief secretary to the government Ali Hamsa had said the government would
continue the replacement intake of 20,000 to 25,000 every year.

In the construction sector, those who are involved in property development will
see slower business as the property market slows down.

Even massive construction projects such the 37km Bandar Utama to Klang
LRT3 may not result in more jobs for locals.
This was because low-end jobs would be given to foreign workers while high-
end jobs would be filled by expatriates, he said.

Many employees in the banking sector will also be out of a job as banks
consolidate their branches.

Ong predicted the number of people starting their own business will be on the
rise after failure to land jobs.

There will be massive underemployment, where for instance, a junior

engineer might end up selling cake.

He is considered employed but he is not doing what he was trained for. This
trend will be on the rise.

He said such people would be considered employed but would have to live on
irregular income.

They will need new skills to survive.

Fresh graduates should also be prepared for the downturn, but those who
upskill their knowledge in computers could land a job, he said.

Those who want higher pay will have to earn it with proven skills needed by
the market. They are young; it is easier for them to learn a skill in coding or
computer programming.

He was referring to a recent JobStreet.com survey which showed fresh

graduates wanted to be paid as much as RM6,500 for their first job.

He said even though it was unrealistic of them to expect such pay, they might
achieve that if they were willing to learn new computer skills.

Ong was commenting on a recent report by the Railwaymen Union of

Malaysia that 4,000 in Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) may lose their
jobs.
The union said based on records, KTMBs cargo losses stood at RM37.41
million in 2015.

The DAP MP said when oil prices are good the government could cover the
losses but it was not able to help when it was facing financial constraints.

BUILD PROBLEMS

In Malaysia there are many unemployed are still without jobs. Many graduates
are still unemployed after graduation. Many school leavers and higher
education institutions are now busy looking for a job in filling various
vacancies in various sectors but the unemployment rate in the country is seen
more and more alarming and must be acted upon accordingly.
Every day had so many job seekers apply for jobs to be interviewed directly
by the companies that are registered and they certainly do not choose a job
and accept whatever post as a temporary measure for a living before getting a
job more suitable. But we have to be prepared to control the problem of
unemployment to unemployed is not a waste of time to participate in things
that are not beneficial.

i. Selecting Work - We must need something that works in accordance with

the degree and Diploma owned but with high demand, and they do not
have any experience. Who would give that work, but starting from the
bottom.

ii. Requires Experience - Go to any large company, they must be

emphasized about our experience before. At least 1 year @ more is
better. For them, there is no need to give guidance again. For my opinion,
the good also need experience, but they need to think back to give us a
chance to have a diploma @ Masters to try his luck. Who else would give
the job to us than those who have a company this big. This is because
many of them are unemployed.
iii. Quality Certificate / Diploma / Degree is not recognized and does not
meet the required standards and standard -For example: A course in a
University that stressed the need to balance the theoretical and technical
elements while on the other U for the same course only emphasize
theoretical aspects only and is not very flexible if you want to compare
with the other U. Never happen in a university in Malaysia now.

iv. Requested salary issues - Many need pay a lot, but just graduate and is
not any work experience. We take the first opportunity, even a little salary.
We work out how, at least we can also experience for us to work with it.

v. Not prepare for the interview. -ready for any eventuality. Survey the
company first. In addition, we have provided certificate, I know what
interview today, this morning, too, want to look for, how can not forget. At
least we need to make preparations, dressed mandatory when go
interview, do not wear out feeling.

vi. The absence of "soft-skills" - such as communication skills and

confidence to answer questions when interviewed, lack of skills and poor
English language skills. Therefore, the search sergeant should now equip
themselves with knowledge and skills to be an insurmountable obstacle
during the interview process.

vii. Immigrants - But the influx of foreign workers in the country, whether
from Indonesia, Vietnam, Cambodia, India is seen as a source of job
seekers to choose work and the government should take immediate steps
to address the issue of intelligent and worsening unemployment. People
should also assist the government to compose attitude if do not want to
remain unemployed and all parties must work together to solve this
serious issue because we do not want the next generation had to find a
job in a foreign country because the country itself can not offer jobs to
people. However, at present reality, the foreign workers are still needed
and they also contribute to the national economy, and they are well
managed, these workers to indirectly increase the number of jobs for local
workers.

viii. The attitude of local workers - should be blamed, they have a bad
attitude and constantly demanding higher wages and more vacation days
as a condition of their appointment in a company. Local employees who
have a lazy attitude has always come to work late and be lighter bones
during work hours while those who worked for failing to follow courses or
studying at university to renew its expertise and improve efficiency.
Therefore, the existing expertise and quickly escaped this incident
occurred regularly in service sectors such as the information technology
industry and this industry requires its workers to renew their expertise as
the technology is now seen as rapid.

ix. Dynamic of Population Amount -The increase of Malaysia populations

within last one decade causes the increased amount of Malaysia labor
force. However, the increase of labor force is conversely not accompanied
with the availability of job opportunities since the human works nowadays
are changed by automate and digitalized machines work, especially in
manufacturing industry. Moreover, it causes the local labor forces to
increase gradually but they cannot be distributed to the job-related area
since the job availability rate remains constant or even declines because
of the technological advancement in certain area of industry. This
essential reason will affect to the significant increase of unemployed
people in Malaysia, especially toward the unemployed graduates. But in
certain consecutive year, the unemployment rates in Malaysia
can be considered as fluctuating stably between 3 to 4 %
annually.
x. Our universities are not producing the talent Malaysia needs-
today many of the university that issued bids for courses that are not
required by the economy of Malaysia. They do it for self interest. For an
example, many doctoral graduates are still unemployed.

SOLUTION
i. Selecting Work - This problem will not be solved unless the presence of
self-awareness on the difficulties to find work in our country, Malaysia.
As the graduates we need to use the skills, knowledge and experience while
studying at the university as a springboard to create a job opportunity and
seize the opportunity and use it to better employment opportunities.

ii. Requires Experience-3 Ways of solution for need requirement which

is:-

1. When the semester break, I'm sure many of the students took the
chance to get a pocket money by working as part timer.Get a letter from your
employer which is to approve that you have experience working with him.First
thing first of do not be embarrassed no matter what your job even cleaner
hospital because many students who directly no work experience.

2. The second way is the most risky way to do part-time work while you
are studying. If daytime schedule is full, you can work in night schedule. But I
do not encourage this because it will affect learning, work and sleep time.

3.The third way is simply as an additional option to create your own

business .If possible, business must be registered with the Companies
Commission of Malaysia (CCM) at a cost as cheap as RM60.Bring two copies
of identity cards, write the company name on the form and the period given is
one year.Next, you can make confirmation letter that you have working in your
own company.

iii. Quality Certificate / Diploma / Degree is not recognized and does not
meet the required standards and standard - Universities should research
before throwing certain course.Next they should balance the theoretical and
technical, because the industry of workers need this things.

iv. Requested salary issues - Many of the graduates demand high pays from
employers.I know that nowadays need to used billion of money pleasure. But
what you demand must suit to yourself as a fresh graduates.

v. Not prepare for the interview. - Job seeker must survey the place that he
want to work.Wear a formal attire and provide all the important certificate.

vi. The absence of "soft-skills". - Job seeker must learn soft-skills.

vii. Immigrants. - For the immigrants is such a not big problem to me.Attitude
of local worker must good from immigrants worker.

ix. Dynamic of Population Amount. - This is not a bigger problem. If theres

a ton of job seeker applying the same job,you can get the job if you have
attitude,and specialty in your jobs.

xi. Our universities are not producing the talent Malaysia needs-
Universities must know what is job market for this days.
