AIMS
By the end of the lesson the ss will be able to:
-to review and consolidate the use of prepositions of place;
-to develop reading, speaking, writing, listening skills.
-to review and consolidate the main words and structures learnt so far- the rooms
of the house, household items
-to encourage students to learn the English language through dialogues,
conversation;

ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: If students do not understand the oral commands or the tasks,
they will be translated into Romanian
Warm Up
Aim:
-to create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere
Procedure: T greets the pupils and ask about their mood. T checks homework.
Timing:5 min

Activity 1: Lead-in
Aim:
-to introduce the pupils in the topic;
-to review and consolidate prepositions of place;
Procedure: The teacher tells the pupils that they will revise the prepositions of place and
vocabulary related to the house.
The teacher asks the pupils to remember the prepositions of place by listening to ,,In, On,
Under Song and identify the prepositions of place in the song.
The teacher asks the pupils to connect the picture with the corresponding sentences on the board,
to read the sentences and to circle the prepositions. (appendix 1)

Activity 2: Presentation&Practice
Aim:
-to review and consolidate rooms of the household items
Procedure: The teacher asks the pupils to watch and listen to a video presenting rooms of
house.
The pupils have to say the rooms they have heard.
The teacher displays several flashcards one at a time and asks the pupils to identify the house
items. If they dont, the teacher tells them what it is and have them repeat.
Then teacher splits the blackboard into four sections (as the rooms of the house), tags the rooms
and asks students where the house items should be placed. The students pin the flashcard in the
right room.

Activity 3: Practice
Aim:
-to develop and improve the pupils listening, reading and pronunciation skills
Procedure: The teacher gives students handouts with a text My house. Students listen to the
teacher reading the text.
Students read and translate the text. After reading students must choose titles for the different
paragraphs.

Activity 4: Practice
Aim:
-to develop speaking skills
Procedure: The teacher asks s the pupils to work in pairs. The pupils ask about their partners
house. Then, they report back to the class.
e.g. S1: What is there in your bedroom?
S2: (Theres) a bed.
S1: This is ..s bedroom. There is a bed, a desk, a bookcase on the wall,etc..

The teacher makes error corrections and helps the pupils, where necessary.

The teacher gives the pupils handouts with a picture of a room and they must read and underline
the correct preposition of place from the sentences. After finishing the sentences the pupils must
read the sentences.

Activity 5: Production
Aim:
- to review the vocabulary / prepositions of place
Procedure: T divides the pupils in groups; each group receives 3 sets of word cards the pupils
have to place the cards in the correct order to make sentences and pin them on a big piece of
paper; each group have to present the sentences to the rest of the class.
The teacher makes error corrections and provides additional explanations, where necessary.
