Three points came to us when we take a look at Ayala Foundation (AF)s corporate

social responsibility (CSR) dimensions: holistic, specific, and collective. In addition,

the four major lines of commitments were in parallel with some of Dutertes 10-point
economic agenda: Education and Youth Leadership is to Invest in human capital
development, including health and education systems, match skills and training;
Sustainable Livelihood is to Promote rural and value chain development toward
increasing agricultural and rural enterprise productivity and rural tourism; Arts and
Culture is to Promote science and technology and the creative arts to enhance
innovation and creative capacity; and Special Projects is to Accelerate annual
infrastructure spending to account for 5% of GDP.

This only proves that AF aims to create a progressive national development jived
with the countrys administrative hope for the betterment of the nation.

The holistic aspect of AFs CSR roots from its culture of holistic development first of
its employees and workers. All of Ayala Corporation (AC)s employees are equipped
not just for the job but also what they can contribute for the improvement of the
nation. All of them are involved not just to AFs activities but also to other non-profit
organizations (NGOs) and non-affiliated social organizations.

As AF taps almost half of Dutertes 10-point economic agenda, we can see that they
do not just focus on one aspect of our countrys greatest needs, but to at least four.
Why not 10? Other points are administrative specific meaning they can be solve with
only the government and its agencies as major part of the process.

The specific point can be seen from the categorization made by AFs CSR. Under
education, three subdivisions are very much specific to address what the country
needs in terms of education, First, Centex. Through this project AF aims to develop
all public educational system to be Centers for Excellence. This is concerned with
the system problem of most public schools. Our country right now is in need of
schools that master their students capabilities, and not just merely to say they teach
one, that is already good. Truly, education is very important to the early stages of
development of our countrys children. The Text2Teach address the school systems
greatest needs of a viable and convenient way of enticing student class participation.
This is truly very specific targeting the root cause of student participation deficiency.
Both project together with Training Institute aims to empower both the student and
faculty to create a nationally competitive school system and alumni.

The youth leadership programs are very much specific. Ayala Young Leaders
Congress (AYLC) tends to create a collective and progressive national development.
It is very specific catering each of the participants greatest community needs
creating a trunk-foliage branching organization. Through this, AF tends to have a
first-hand picture of what every corner of the countrys most underprivileged
places/community truly needs and later starting to address the same. AYLC is a two-
fold path: youth leadership development and national development. Truly, the youths
are the hopes of the Philippines. Through leadership, AF hopes to create an army of
greatest leaders who can contribute and give their whole life to the society, for its
betterment, continuous innovation, and self-sufficient contribution to total national
success. For the group, this is the best CSR from any private corporation investing
millions for different Starfish Projects (projects proposed by delegates from
contemplating on their own community needs; AF will fully fund these projects).

It is not just that AF hopes for a collective development as they open Bangsomoro
Leadership Communities (promoting unity as one nation and collective community
development to every walks of Filipino culture and identity) and Leadership
Communities to almost all parts of the country making the nations citizens, specially
youths, its own catalysts for a progressive change.

The sustainable livelihood needs of the country are not merely for sustainability but
also for promoting rural areas economic impact in the micro scale. It aims to develop
empowerment to its communities of focus, because it is through empowerment that
citizens tend to be engaged in developing their own identity. This is for us a great
leap for improvement. This is also a great step for AF since nowadays rural areas
are left behind maintaining the status quo of being downgraded while urbanized
places tend to develop and be recognized more. AF wants a collective (up to those
of the least, the less, and the lost) and at most, equal pace/degree of development.

The arts and culture contributes to immortalizing our countrys greatest inventors
and innovation ideas, concepts and at the same time treasures indeed. This is an
edge for AF amongst others CSR environment. AF funded and will fund future
inventions and innovations, it is the AYLC delegates, as one of our group member
had been part that narrates, young minds inventions were put into realization (by
funding and feasibility testing, etc.) and later to be used by the country in its
development. This category of AFs CSR taps the most untapped dimensions of
national development needs.

AF is truly a foundation of hope, learning, and initiative. They create a culture of

collective and holistic development, while empathizing each of the countrys greatest
needs, engaging not just themselves but also the communitys citizens first-hand,
and empowering each and every Filipino that it is in their own hands that each of us
will feel the embrace of the nation that we once dreamt of to be, and now comes to
life, vis--vis, This is what I want you to be.
