El e m p l e o de la traduccin e n la e n s e a n z a de las l e n g u a s ha g o z a d o de m a y o r
o m e n o r popularidad e n diferentes pocas. En Inglaterra durante el R e n a c i m i e n t o
se estudiaban los llamados vulgars e n las escuelas. Eran oraciones e n ingls q u e
trataban diversos aspectos de la vida cotidiana y los a l u m n o s traducan al latn, cui-
d a n d o e s p e c i a l m e n t e el estilo. La traduccin c o m o herramienta e n la e n s e a n z a de
las l e n g u a s m o d e r n a s n o se hizo popular hasta el siglo xrx, a u n q u e se e n c u e n t r a n

casos a n t e s de esa fecha .

Se trata de u n a traduccin e n la s e g u n d a l e n g u a q u e n o es e x a c t a m e n t e igual
p e r o se a p r o x i m a m u c h o . Hay q u e tener m u c h o cuidado n o obstante, d e n o alejar-
se d e m a s i a d o del original. C o m o h e m o s visto, los diccionarios bilinges a m e n u d o
dan c o m o supuestos s i n n i m o s a palabras q u e n o lo son. Se p u e d e utilizar el anli-
sis de c o m p o n e n t e s antes de decidir el grado d e sinonimia.
