Lesson 1

Reflection:
1. Did all the students meet the learning target? How do you
know?
Many students met the learning target. Those who did not will get the chance to meet it during the third
lesson in this unit. The class discourse during the lesson, note taking and during the closure of the class
proved to me many students met the learning target.

Reflection:
2. Describe any changes you made as you were teaching the lesson.
We did not get through as much of the note as I wanted to get through. I also skipped a practice problem
and went through the note taking process first because of the time constraint. We spent more time than
predicted on the warm up sheet.

Reflection:
3. What would you change about this lesson plan before you teach it
again? Pay attention to situations where students either did not learn or
already knew.
The warm up sheet proved to be hard for some students to complete on their own but it was meant for
me to gauge what students could do and what they could not do rather than an activity for them to prove
and master their skills. During another class I stopped to go over the procedure more in depth with the
students because more of the class was confused than not. I think that in this case I would make the
sheet more of a group activity than an individual activity.
I think I would also have students write down the class work in their INB on the output page to speed up
the note taking process. While taking notes I teach, I do not simply give them the information. Therefore
taking notes tends to take longer than it would in another class but I think the students get more out of
this than just writing things down.

Reflection:
4. How did the results of this lesson influence the way that you will teach
in the future?
In the future I will keep a closer eye on the time. In some classes the closing discourse was very brief
because of time. I think that I could also have better guiding questions when talking about the newer
concepts, perhaps building off of their established concepts more.

Lesson 2
Reflection:
1. Did all the students meet the learning target? How do you
know?
No, however they have an opportunity to cover this learning target during the next
class period (next lesson in this lesson). Class discourse reflected that the students
were starting to understand the procedure and the conceptual understanding of the
learning target but they have not mastered the skill without their notes. Students
were working on their exit tickets when we had to clean up for class.
Reflection:
2. Describe any changes you made as you were teaching the lesson.
I added more guiding questions before the notes because I noticed in other classes
that students were struggling and with the warm up and then I went into more detail
about the conceptual understanding of why we add when the points are in different
quadrants.

Reflection:
3. What would you change about this lesson plan before you teach it
again? Pay attention to situations where students either did not learn or
already knew.
For this lesson in particular, I think that the biggest issue was including something
that my mentor teacher wanted them to know but did not really go with my lesson.
It slowed down the learning and I feel like it made the students more stressed about
learning things. In an ideal world I would have left that out.
I think that having so many students with different mathematical levels is harder but
I think that matching students together so that they would benefit more from each
other would be a great idea.
I also would like to keep a better eye on the time in this class. The students all have
really good questions and I tend to get lost in those. The notes took longer today
because the students had to learn something that was not in my normal lesson.
(mainly me venting)

Reflection:
4. How did the results of this lesson influence the way that you will teach
in the future?
I think if these students were mine all year I would have scaffolding the units better.
That would have given my students, and I, a better grasp on all things graphing. I
like that I split these lessons the way that I did but I also think that the information
that I got from their past work was not completely accurate so these last 2 lessons
have hit slight bumps but they are moving forward with it very well.
Lesson 3

Reflection:
Did all the students meet the learning target? How do you know?
Yes, class discourse, group work, advanced students got a challenge sheet.

Reflection:
Describe any changes you made as you were teaching the lesson.
Changed pacing and gave different students the challenge questions than planned.

Reflection:
What would you change about this lesson plan before you teach it
again? Pay attention to situations where students either did not learn or
already knew.
Switch the two sections where they review notes and do the warm up sheet.

Reflection:
How did the results of this lesson influence the way that you will teach
in the future?
I think I will give the students a better sense of gradual release from now on. I think
that some students could and should have been doing solo work much faster and
others much slower.
