Organized Crime Investigation


This covers the nature of organized crimes, thier attributes and categories. It
also includes international and local organized crimes groups.

Defining Organized Crime


Organized crime is yet to attain a universally accepted and applicable
definition in country greatly varies from another country.

Organized Crime Group is a profit motivated and highly capable group


of persons or an enterprise organized to undertake widespread, regular or long
term, large scale, high profile and diversified criminal activities that has high-
impact on the economy and National Security.

Types of Prostitution
Escort Prostitution
Outcall the act takes place at the customers
residence or at his or her hotel room.
In call when the act takes place at the escorts
residence or in the hotel room rented for the occasion
by the escort.

Turning Tricks term describing servicing the
customer.

that is motivated by drug addiction.

Softcore refers to pornography that does not depict
penetration (usually genitals are not shown right on
the camera)
Hardcore refers to pornography that depicts
penetration explicity.

PHOTOGRAPHS
- A permanent record should be kept relating to photographs
taken in the course of an investigstion, noting the time, date and
place of the photograph, its subject the wether condition at the
time it was taken.

DOCUMENTS
- Documents that may become evidence in prosecution
should be rataine din their original form. They should be treated in
much the s ame manner as drug seizures with regards to
identification, and it is suggested that all under whose supervision
this is than can later prove the original, particularly in cases
where returned to a person for production later in court.

INVESTIGATIVE RECORDS
- records in this particular category include ;

1. Information on a suspect of drug movement


2. Results of background inquiry on a suspect
3. The log or running sheet kept on investigator and suspect
movement during surveillance or arrest.
4. Investigators notebooks and diaries
5. Investigators notes of conversations, events or interviews.

ROLE OF PDEA

During investigation in the Philippines is under the concern of


the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) being newly
created and organized. The agency has one among its power and
functions the initation of all investigation proceedings concerning
drug cases, absorbing all drug enforcement units of the other
governmental agencies like the National Bureau of Investigation,
the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Customs and other
Agencies ans bureaus with drug in vestigation division.
As amended by law and here qouted, the PDEA shall create
and maintain an efficient special enforcement unit to conduct an
investigation and file charges and transmit evidence to the proper
court

Overview of the Drug Investigation Process


Proper handling of drug evidence is necessary to obtain the
maximum possible information upon which scientific examination
shall be based, and to prevent exclusion as evidence in court.
1. The evidence should reach the laboratory as much as possible in
the same condition as when its found.
2. The quality of specimen should be adequate. Even with the best
equipment available, good result cannot be obtained from
insufficient specimens.
