PHILOSOPHY

as Shrugged by Ayn Rand which molded his political views. In San Francisco, he
helped to found the Libertarian Party of California and drafted their by-laws.
POLITICAL
He ran for County Supervisor in San Francisco as a "Libertarian Lawyer/CPA". H
is platform of drastically reducing government, selling the municipal transporta
tion system and city parks, legalizing drug, victimless crimes, and prostitution
was too radical for San Francisco. He lost the election to Harvey Milk and the
incumbents.
Lloyd Taylor's 1975 campaign platform:
"My philosophy: Repeal Compulsory Taxes. Sell Muni, the Airport, the Port and Y
erba Buena Center to private enterprise. Sell the schools to private enterprise
. Repeal city payroll, business and Gross Receipts taxes. To the Chief of Poli
ce: 'Make the Streets Safe from Violent Crime or You're Fired.' Abolish propert
y taxes. Cut supervisors' salaries in half. Prohibit the use of tax dollars to
enforce victimless crime laws. Fewer county employees; better business climate,
free market economy; abolition of city permit bureaucracy; and lower taxes mean
more jobs."
He later ran the San Francisco county portion of the state ballot drive to qual
ify Proposition 13 to reduce property taxes from 3% to 1% of market value.
COMMUNITY
He was a co-founder and
first treasurer of the Golden Gate Business Association.
