Dubai welcomed nearly 12 million visitors in 2014, which is
expected to rise to over 15 million in 2015 and to a staggering

is set to be the worlds largest airport, able to accommodate
160 million passengers a year.

FOREIGN DIRECT INVESTMENT


Dubai recorded almost AED 28.6 billion in foreign direct
investment to the emirate in 2014, according to figures
released by investment agency, Dubai FDI. Of that figure,
real estate, financial services, hotels and tourism, renewable
energy, business services, software and IT services accounted
for 78%. The economy continues to diversify its sources of
income.

By the end of 2014, there were 92,333 hotel rooms and
apartments in Dubai (a 9.2% increase on 2013), which
generated over AED 24 billion in income; whilst the Q1 2015
average hotel occupancy rate was a very healthy 87%, with
an average room rate of USD 327. Professional services
firm, Deloitte, projects these figures will remain consistent
for the rest of the year yet the number of rooms will continue
to increase. By the time of Expo 2020 Dubai, over 164,000
hotel rooms and hotel apartments will be required.

BUSINESS CONFIDENCE
According to its quarterly survey, the Department of Economic
Development (DED) in Dubai stated that robust economic
fundamentals including buoyancy in tourist activity and
diversified sources of income have resulted in continued
confidence in the emirate. Dubais Composite Business
Confidence Index (BCI) stood at 138.2 points in Q4 2014 (almost
the same as the previous year) with a strong outlook for 2015.
The UAE travel and tourism sector alone is expected to
create 245,000 jobs directly by 2023, registering an annual
growth rate of 4.1%, according to the latest research analysis
released by Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
