Proposal for Cleaning Single Unit of Bioscrubber (In Current Case Bioscrubber A)

Schematic Diagram for Biogas Pipelines and POME Recycling Line for Bioscrubber System

Step 1
Main inlet valve
to bioscrubber
inlet pipeline

1. The inlet valve that linked to the main inlet pipeline to both bioscrubber inlet pipelines will be
closed with the bypass valve after CV2 will be open to divert all of the raw biogas generated from
all digester tanks to flare pipelines rather than bioscrubber pipelines.
2. The inlet and outlet valves of Bioscrubber B will be closed while the inlet and outlet valve of
Bioscrubber A will be remained open.
3. The blank plate and the valve of standby piping for purging will be opened.
4. After all of the respective valves are opened, the booster blower will be operated and suck air
from the nearby atmosphere to do purging for the inlet and outlet piping of bioscrubber and also
flush off all of the biogas that accumulated within Bioscrubber A tank and discharged via the
emergency purging / blowoff pipeline (with the 4 emergency vent valve is opened).
5. After 10 15 minutes of flushing, engineer will test the gas that discharged from the emergency
purging / blowoff pipeline to ensure that there is no more residue biogas within the tank of
Bioscrubber A and its respective inlet, outlet pipelines.
6. On the meantime, ensure that all of the butterfly of the POME recycling line is closed tightly.
Step 2

1. The butterfly valves (red colour valves) that linked to POME equalization tank will be shut off to
prevent any POME within Bioscrubber A & Bioscrubber B from flowing back to POME Equalization
Tank and vice versa.
2. The blank plates at the end of POME recycling pipe of both Bioscrubber A & Bioscrubber B will be
replaced with new 6 SS piping come with butterfly (yellow section), which used for draining out
all of the POME liquid that accumulated within the bioscrubber body only, while the POME liquid
within the POME equalization tank still remain inside the tank.
3. Before the end section of the POME recycling pipe is replaced with new 6 SS piping, the POME
liquid inside both Bioscrubber A and Bioscrubber B will be drained out via a self-fabricate
temporary gutter to the nearest monsoon drain.

4. After the new drainage pipe is installed, it will be useful to discharge the cleaning water or POME
liquid accumulated inside the bioscrubber tank when operator want to do cleaning for the
bioscrubber tanks.

Step 3

1. The inlet valve and outlet valve of Bioscrubber A will be removed and replaced with blank plates
which fabricated by mill workshop fitters.

2. After the inlet and outlet of Bioscrubber A have been blocked with blank plates, the inlet valve
and outlet valve of Bioscrubber B will be open, the valves along the POME recycling line of
Bioscrubber B will be opened too. Meanwhile, all of the inlet, outlet biogas valves and the valves
along the POME recycling line of Bioscrubber A will remain closed. (except the new drainage valve
along the POME recycling line)
3. After that, the bypass valve to flare will be closed and the inlet valve to inlet main pipeline of
bioscrubber will be opened, the standby piping for purging purpose will be closed, the inlet valve
to booster blower will be closed together will booster blower is turned off too.
4. Then, allowed the biogas to flow through Bioscrubber B and operate single bioscrubber,
Bioscrubber B for daily normal power generation purposes.
5. After the single bioscrubber is operated normally and engineer will test the quality of biogas that
vented out from the emergency purging pipeline until the outlet biogas quality achieved the
desired quality standard where CH4 > 50% and H2S is <10ppm.
6. Then, operators will proceed to open the manhole of each compartments of Bioscrubber A and
exhaust fan will be install at the top of Bioscrubber A to do continuous purging within Bioscrubber
A via opened manhole in order to provide good ventilation throughout the Bioscrubber A tank
during the cleaning period.
7. In the end, the operator will carry out the cleaning process for first compartment nearest to the
inlet pipeline of Bioscrubber A.
