BVM Global@Salem
It was a pleasant evening and the climate was
also very calm. I desired to go with the climate
by reading a pleasing book. So I started to read
about Buddha. Possessing that calm mind, let
me share some information about Buddha.
The Buddhas of Bamiyan were the
monumental statues of Standing Buddha. They
were carved in the 6th century. The statues
represented the classic blended style of
Gandhara art. The main bodies were hewn
directly from the stand cliffs, but it was
modeled in mud mixed with straw, coated with
stucco. The lower parts of the statues arms
were constructed from the same mud-straw
mix, supported on wooden armatures. The
upper parts of the face were made from great

wooden masks or casts. They were dynamited
and destroyed in March 2001 by the Taliban.
The destruction of the Bamiyan Buddhas
became a symbol of oppression and a rallying
point for the freedom of religious expression

Now that I have children of my own, I am
grateful to whatever my uncle exposed me to.
Sometimes I feel sorry that in the hustle and
bustle of our daily life, I dont talk as much to
my children and they do not have someone like
my uncle to talk to them.
Im very grateful to God for the people He

Mitch Albom, in his book, Tuesdays With ,
Morrie, says that relationships are important in
life, and Im very grateful to Uncle Joannes for
spending so much time with me when I was

ourselves.
