Deforestation Information

31% of earth is covered by plants which produce vital oxygen which helps
us humans to survive.
This 31% of the world is home to many species of all sorts which without
them the human population cannot survive, the forest supplies us food,
water, oxygen to breathe, medicine, clothing and shelters for us to live
under
Many forests around the world are endangered along with the species that
live within them, a well-known forest which is deforested almost every day
by being cut down burned etc. doing this creates lots of problems in the
world such at climate change, due to lack of trees the co2 cannot be
transferred into oxygen and also upsets the carbon cycle.
Climate change harms the lives of many on the planet including animals
too, 46-48 thousand miles of trees are destroyed each year which is
equivalent to 40 football fields a minute
Trees act as a co2 sponge soaking all the co2 that is released into the
atmosphere converting it into oxygen as a bi product for us to use and by
destroying them not only do we suffer but the atmosphere, it is estimated
that 15% of greenhouse gases are from deforestation
Trees help a lot with the water cycle too by keeping balance between how
much water is in the land and atmosphere and by cutting certain trees you
can disturb the water cycle such as the flow of rivers and precipitation.
Trees also prevent soil erosion and by cutting them down massive masses
of land can fill rivers making the water dirty and bad for all species that
use it

One in ten known species on Earth

1.4 billion acres of dense forests, half of the planet's remaining tropical
forests
4,100 miles of winding rivers
2.6 million square miles in the Amazon basin, about 40 percent of South
America

Q1) Clearly describe the issue you have selected and outline why it is a
current problem?
Land clearing is the worst threat to animals because by clearing land it directly
impacts the habitats of animals in a bad way, not only that but by destroying 1
habitat it could affect the entire ecosystem around it which could lead to
extinction of species.

Q2) How have humans caused or contributed to this problem?

Humans have mostly contributed to the destruction of habitats due to
deforestation, a well-known place where this occurs the most is in the amazon
rainforest where a lot of deforestation is done and some illegal. From every
minute after the year 2000 the equal to 50 football fields has been destroyed all
for money.
Q3) What effects on global ecosystem and/or regional ecosystems does
your topic have?
Deforestation directly destroys habitats of animals, deforestation if not is one of
the worst ways to destroy an ecosystem. Most animals cant survive
deforestation because their homes are being destroyed. If worst comes to worst
this could lead to extinctions of species which it has done in the past already. By
killing of species, the entire ecosystem would be out of balance. Deforestation
also changes the weather by cutting down trees they cant do their job of
converting Co2 which can affect the ozone layer which then leads to global
warming. Due to trees and plants being cut down the carbon cycle suffers
meaning eventually we do too.
Q4) How can human activity be altered to reduce or repair the impact
that your topic has on global ecosystems.
Humans can plant more trees and put strict laws on deforestation if not we could
reduce the use of paper or recycle more so less tress need to be cut down, we
could spread awareness of deforestation so future generations can learn from it.
Q5) What is the effect on human populations if your issue/topic is not
managed.
By cutting down trees and destroying land, humans have the opportunity to
make that their home instead which could mean an increase in population
because there is more space for humans to strive. However, if we continue this,
the world would be dark and life less which leads to bad weather and global
warming which will kill humans.
Q6) What is your personal opinions on the issue stated? Make sure
your opinion is justified.
Personally I think this should be stopped as soon as possible because life is a
miracle and us humans destroy that and without life around us we would not
exist because every living thing is connected genetically like family. If we
condense how long the earth has been here into 24 hours we have been her for 3
seconds and already we have taken over without worrying at all about the world
around us.
