Happenings in
Our Learning
Writing and Reading: Students reflected
on their spring break and chose one
power word to describe it. They had fun
sharing about their breaks and presenting
a song to go along with it! To prep for
STAAR Writing this Tuesday, we examined
the writing skills students are expected to
know for 4th and each student chose one
they needed to focus on. As individuals or
in small groups, students studied and
prepared a lesson for the class based on
that one specific skill. They loved taking
ownership as well as following their
classmates interactive lessons.
Math: Students have been working on
converting within customary and metric
units and using input/output table to assist
their understanding. We have also been
reviewing area and perimeter and the
difference between the two concepts.
Skewing their original perception, the
students discovered our classroom is
actually an square and covers about 784
square feet!

Practice at Home
One session of XtraMath per
night is required to be
completed Monday-Thursday.
Students may complete Jam
Sessions on TenMarks as well.
Encourage your child to read as
much as they write at home!
