Lesson Title: Telling Time, Counting Coins, Adding and Subtracting Oh, Yeah More/Less

Standards:
M.UN.01.04 Identify the different denominations of coins and bills.
M.UN.01.05 Match one coin or bill of one denomination to an equivalent set of coins/bills of
other denominations, e.g., 1 quarter = 2 dimes and 1 nickel.
M.UN.01.06 Tell the amount of money: in cents up to $1, in dollars up to $100. Use the
symbols $ and .
M.UN.02.05 Using both A.M. and P.M., tell and write time from the clock face in 5 minute
intervals and from digital clocks to the minute; include reading time: 9:15 as nine-
fifteen and 9:50 as nine-fifty. Interpret time both as minutes after the hour and

Instructional and Assessment Materials:
Teacher candidate materials: Quick Check, Reteach, and Practice, materials for each student: dry
erase markers, dry erase boards, board erasers, daily math skill review problem pages, and
multiplication flash cards.
Student materials: Math book, catch-up work from class, multiplication chart, and pencil.
Technology needs: None available, nor needed.
Anticipatory Set: Students to enter room at 9:45am. Guide students to choose a seat at the
rainbow table. Take Chs yellow folder and ask if she wants to use dinosaurs or bingo chips as
counters. Get Ch started with her 3 counter problems, then call Ms. Es room for Sh if he had
not entered the room.
