2.0 EXECUTION METHOD STATEMENT

Preparatory Works

1. PA shall conduct Tool Box Talk. This shall include a briefing on the TRA; the days work
scope, roles and responsibilities of the crew. The discussed points shall be recorded.
2. Confirm all control measures identified are in place prior to start of work.
3. Prepare 3 sample cubes (150 X 150 mm) for the mixed concrete for testing purpose.
4. QC documentation shall be maintained for all repairs.
5. The following documents shall be attached to the permit application.

1 In case of a gas leak stop all work & equipment, move personnel out of the
area, inform control room and proceed to muster point.

5 In case of adverse weather (heavy wind/ rain), stop work.

Method of repairing concrete foundation (1349, 1354)

1) relocate the temporary support and start repairing the next one.
2) Existing concrete paving shall be broken (approximate 18 around the foundation) by
using a pneumatic jack hammer. Jack hammer deployed shall not be more than 4 depth.
3) The broken fragments shall be carted away and disposed off to designated area.
4) Remaining depth shall be manually excavated till the good concrete is reached. The
depth of excavation shall not exceed 1.2 meter.
5) The excavated soil shall be segregated by road base and sand and stored away from the
location and shall be reused for backfilling.
6) Manually chip out the deteriorated concrete. If any cracks are found to be propagating
this shall be broken down to sound concrete using light duty jack hammer.
7) Check the condition of the rebar / anchor bolt, if the rebar is corroded chip out the
concrete until a minimum length of 2 of un-corroded reinforcement is exposed and make a clear
gap behind reinforcement for applying the coating.
8) Where corroded reinforcement has lost more than 15% of its cross sectional area, a new
length of bar shall be added to compensate for this loss. The diameter and spacing of the new
reinforcement shall match with the existing. Where less than 15% has been lost, the
reinforcement shall be cleaned / grit blasted and two full coat of Zincrich primer applied, and
ensure that the back face of the reinforcement is also coated. Mixing and application of Zincrich
primer shall be in accordance with the attached manufactures recommendation.
9) Where there is any 15 % section loss on nuts / bolts, these shall be replaced with a new
hot dip galvanized bolt or nut. The length, diameter and spacing of the new bolt shall match with
the existing. Where there is only surface corrosion, the bolt and nut shall be grit blasted to
Swedish SA 2 1/2 to achieve a uniform bright condition.
10) Anchor bolt part that is going inside the concrete shall be coated with Nitoprime
Zincrich and above the concrete shall be coated with remedial coating.
11) If the existing base plate is corroded or any section loss is noted, inform and get
approve from construction team leader to determine whether this needs to be replaced or whether
it can be repaired.
12) Surface of concrete, rebar, and base plate shall be cleaned by means of blasting to
remove the by-product of corrosion and any loose concrete.
13) Apply remedial coating FIE-04010 (HEMPEL 6.2.1) to the base plate (underneath and
upto 1 above the base plate) and apply Nitoprime Zincrich for rebars and leave it for curing.
14) Pre-wetting of the substrate shall be carried out at least 2 hours prior to the pouring of
grout. At the time of grout placement the substrate shall be in a saturated surface dry condition.
15) Form work shall be left in place for a period of 30 hours to attain the compressive
strength.

16) On completion of the grouting operation, all exposed areas of grout should be
thoroughly cured by continuous application of water and/or wet Hessian.
17) After 3 days of curing, protective coating (Nitoproof 600 refer attachment) shall be
applied.
18) Once the foundation repairs have been completed and coating applied, the excavation
shall be backfilled as per the below sketch.

19) Remove the temporary supports.

20) Upon completion, construction team leader inspection / acceptance, demobilize, carry
out house keeping and clear site.
21) Reinstate the valve handles by operations.
