LEARNING ACTIVITIES
The class will be presented with some PC tools and computer system components. The teacher will also
present a video clip about the step by step procedures in PC assembly. While the class enjoys in video presentation,
students will be informed to their performance task which is to assemble a computer. Then, the teacher introduces
the learning standard of the unit. Students are asked to give insights about the transfer goal. The essential questions
are highlighted and the teacher requests the class to study the contents (i.e. knowledge and skills) of the unit which
will help students answer questions. The teacher divides the class into groups and discusses with them the
performance task required of the unit. The rubric is presented and questions are entertained for clarification and
leveling of expectations.
Through the gallery walk conducted last meeting, the class will have a moving exam regarding the naming
and classifying of hand tools.
The class will view a video clip entitled Tool Story, Based on the video clip the students will reflect on
the importance of the uses and functions of tools. Students will conduct a short demo on how to use the tools
properly (3). (EQUIP/REFLECT)
The class will view another video clip entitled Proper Way of Cleaning the Computer. Based on the
video clip, the students will give tips on how to safely clean the PC. (REFLECT, EVALUATE, TAILOR-MADE)
The students will read the text TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE. Then they will conduct
a maintenance activity on the given hand tools (4). (EVALUATE, TAILOR-MADE)
The class will view again the step by step procedures in PC Assembly. They will have to do a return demo
in preparation for their performance task (2). (EVALUATE, REFLECT)
The teacher administers a Unit Test covering the entire Third Quarter Scope. After the test, he gives final
instructions about the students performance task and their group-work schedule at the computer laboratory (5).
(REFLECT, EVALUATE, TAILOR-MADE)
The remaining days of the unit are used for showcasing the performance task. The groups of students who
are not working are observers to the performing groups. The teacher moves around and provides the working
groups proper assistance if necessary and thus, the newly assembled computer system will be the product of the
performing groups. (REFLECT, EVALUATE)
