cccccccccccccccccccccCaning is a figure of corporal punishment consisting of a number of hits, or strokes

with a cane, normally applied to either the clothed or bare buttocks of the offender, hands, palms,

or soles of the feet. Over the years, people have been debating over whether corporal penalty, or

more specifically caning, should be a legal and appropriate punishment for wrongdoers in

schools. While some parents are aghast at the notion of anyone laying a finger on their children,

others are all for permitting teachers to discipline their kids with the rod and help them turn over

a new leaf. Although that some might think that caning is a form of punishment that is too severe

for children, caning should be allowed as it has successfully proven to control the behavior of

delinquents.

The most common complaint about caning is that it is a cruel type of punishment,

and it should be banned because nobody wants to harm their precious and fragile children.

However, that opinion has to be erased because with that kind of thinking, we are only spoiling

the children and it is hard as a parent or teacher today, to control them because of the weight of

ill-informed, unscientific opinion that claimed punishment for misdeed is a negative thing. By

way of implementing caning rules in schools such as giving the right to cane to certain people

only (principals, disciplinary teachers), types of offense for caning, and using the right tools,

caning can prove to be a helpful approach to punishing students.

Another protest towards caning is that it traumatizes children and discourages them

from going to school. But with this belief, it only shows that kids these days are too spoiled if

they feel that being caned is a valid reason for not going to school. Caning is actually intended to

beget a different effect. It reminds the student of their wrongdoings and prompts them never to

repeat the same mistake in the future. This will definitely have a positive effect on all children

and shape them to become cautious and considerate beings.

Lastly, those who oppose of caning supposedly think that caning actually causes kids

to become more rebellious. This outlook is particularly nonsensical because punishment for

crime is aimed to diminish disobedience affect these children positively. It is hard, as a parent or

teacher today, to control children, because of the weight of ill-informed, unscientific opinion that

claim discipline is a negative thing. It is almost impossible to discipline hard headed kids with

mere words. Embarrassing the student is good because it¶s effective. If they¶re involved in

smoking and drugs, they should be punished publicly, and not only does this serve as a lesson for

the offender, but other students who have seen it would think twice before committing the same

misdemeanor.

To come to the point, caning is no doubt an appropriate type of punishment and

should be implemented in schools. It is an efficient method of disciplining children and will

reduce bad behavior. Caning is found to be a good technique given the right situations, with the

right motives, and using the correct tools. If it is banned and the world decides not to go on with

caning, children will become rebellious delinquents and will lead to much bigger social problems.
