Describe an example of your leadership experience in which you have positively influenced

others, helped resolve disputes, or contributed to group efforts over time.

The Leadership experience I had experience was being co/section leader of the clarinets section
of the Gauchos Marching Brigade. A section leader is the top player of a instrument. They are
the ones who is there to to fix any part of the music that need to be fix within the section. They
are also there to break things down into simple music and making sure the section can get into
tune with a good tone. During my freshman year in high school, I have become a co-section
leader because I was the second best clarinet. This led me be section leader if the section leader
its there to teach the section. So the section leader wasnt there for most of the sectional because
she had to be at cheer practice. So I became the section leader and I have to get out of my
comfort zone and teach two new clarinetist. As the year goes on the I always been co-section
leader and now and my sectional leader and I split our section in off so she can teach one half of
the section and I teach the other half. I am also part of the band council as member at large
during my junior year and treasurer in my senior year. Sometimes in band council, you have to
be leader when there is a problem within the band. We are there to fix any problem the band with
any problem. We also have to make sure that everyone is follow the rules and upperclassmen are
being a good example for the freshmen. With all this leadership, I have contributed to this group
and hoping it will continue to be doing great.

Describe how you have taken advantage of a significant educational opportunity or worked
to overcome an educational barrier you have faced.

I am overcoming an educational barrie this year. If you consider overcome a teacher who doesnt
know how to teach a band than yeah. This teacher is was teaching one of top three band in
Northern California Band Association (NCBA). Upperclass are stressing out about the present
and the future of this band program because we are afraid that it will go down hill if she doesnt
teach us correctly. She had uppers mans to teach the freshman's on how to march and playing
their music. She doesnt give feedback and repeat any of upperclassmen suggest in our own
words. Also she doesnt give us discipline, which is required for a school band. Discipline is
what separate middle school bands to a high school bands. Lucky us, upperclassmen are working
our butt off to keep the program high but it could been a lot high if this teacher knows on how to
teach a band. We are still hoping she will change to keep the on moving up but she not really
changing. My other educational barrier is my speech problem. I had this barrier since I was little.
When I was little my sister was somehow the only to understand me. But lucky people can
understand but I came some consequences. Since i dont know how pronounce word when
young, it was very different for sound out a word and spelling. It also cause me to have bad
grammar which I still dont know how it affect me because when I speaked or saying things in
my hard, its proper grammar. But somehow from my head to my hand, there are mistakes. But
I still overcoming these barriers but their are more barrier to go and Im ready for them.

Describe the most significant challenge you have faced and the steps you have taken to
overcome this challenge. How has this challenge affected your academic achievement?

My most significant challenge I had face was in fifth, sixth, and seventh grade years in middle
school. It all started during my fifth grade year. I had very painful stomach ache that cause me to
be focus on the pain than school. I missed many days of school and the school believe I was
faking it. Lucky my parent believe me and took to the my doctor. The doctor dont know what
was wrong with me so she recommended in taking me to childeren hospital. They solve the
problem and diagnose me of having acid reflux. This rest of my fifth grade year was me being
home school and I was falling behind in learning because I had a home school teacher who
doesnt know on how to teach. So falling year, I started my six grade years at Tenaya Middle
School. I had to make new friend because all my friends from elementary school had made new
friends. So I join band and played the clarinet. I think I was one of the worst clarinet player and
only made one friend. As the year goes on, I have gotten better playing the clarinet. Seventh
grade started, I was the second best clarinet in my class and the fourth best clarinet overall. I
have spent my days in practicing my fingering to the music, not really playing on my clarinet but
still till this day, I dont really know on how I became the fourth best clarinet player because I
dont really practiced on my clarinet. This all affected my academic achievement by making me
work harder than others do and learning the music language. I have to do some extra work to
achieve my goals but I sometimes I do things better than others.

Describe your favorite academic subject and explain how it has influenced you.

My favorite academic subjects are math and science. Math and science has always became very
easy for me in school. It always catches my attention in learning in these subjects. My favorite
subject out of these two would be science. Science has always interest me from space to the
human body and earth. I always liked learning new thing about the universe. Also how chemical
react to each other and physics of earth. Even Though I dont believe in some science law
because this how earth work and not how other planets work. We need to stop assuming that
other planets and creative work the same on every planets in space. Other than that I look
science. Still till this day, I dont know why this subject always catches my attention but it have
influence me into looking for something that required science. Math is almost the some story but
sometime I dislike learning math. I dislike geometry and statistical part of math because I think
they are not really math relative. Other than that, I like math. I also dont know why math
become very easy for me because when was in the first and we had some gate class kids in my
class. I was the rank number one for math even though there was a kid that was sometime gets a
better scored in the math tests than me. It also influence me in looking in a career that require
math. I a math teach as plan c because I still dont know what I want to do as a career. But
science and math together are the ones that that really influence me in looking for a career
because they are my favorite academic subjects.
