Lent and Easter Worship

This Lent and Easter are very meaningful for me as I experience my final year
OUR SUNDAY of ministry before retirement. I remember when Jesus had his last supper
WORSHIP with the disciples, he said that he had eagerly looked forward to celebrating
the Passover with them. I feel the same way about experiencing our last Lent

BLESSED BE THE TIES

Ashe Assisted Living residents are having a prom in May! Formal attire is being obtained for the la-
dies, but neckties or bow ties are needed for the gentlemen. If you have some to share, or if
someone you know has extra ties to dispose of, would you consider donating them? Bring them to
our church library before the end of April and Rachel Johnston will make sure that the gentlemen
feel extra special wearing their new ties!
COURAGE YOUTH RETREAT RECAP
Our Spring Youth retreat was a wonderful experience for all those involved. Using the biblical
Daniel as our guide we learned our individual God-given traits that make us superhuman in
the world we live in today. Thank you to all the youth, their parents, the volunteers, Brian Cor-
nell and our pastor, Karen Miller, for making this event possible!

GRADUATION SUNDAY
We will be honoring all of our high school and college graduates on May 7. Please contact Shea
Cullifer or Karen Miller if you are graduating or you have a student in your family who is graduat-
ing! Thanks!

OPEN HEARTS, OPEN MINDS, OPEN DOORS

DO YOU WANT TO HELP SOMEONE IN GRIEF?

Medi Home Health and Hospice and other local agencies are presenting a workshop at our
church from 1:30-4:30 P.M. on Thursday, April 27, entitled "Companioning Grievers: Being Pre-
sent to Another Person's Pain".

Participants will learn how to be a supportive and positive companion

to the bereaved. The leader, Lisa Ethan, is the Executive Director and
Founder of "Grief Speaks" and is a certified grief specialist. She will
present multiple methods of helping others, including the power of
presence, empathy, and listening, that will prepare you to be a source
of hope to those of all ages who are experiencing loss. She will pro-
vide simple and effective ways to become self-aware, intentional and
patient when those you love are journeying through grief.

Pre-registration is not required. Registration at the door begins at

1:00 P.M. on Thursday. The cost is a $5 donation at the door, which supports the High Country
Caregiver Foundation and Ashe Really Cares. Students are free with an ID. For those who need
Continuing Education Units, 3 hours will be available.
