Denver Public School District

c/o Hiring Committee
1860 Lincoln Street
Denver, CO 80203

Dear Hiring Committee:

In response to your primary elementary postings, I am submitting my resume and cover letter for your
review. Denver Public School District has great appeal to me because of the collaborative, inclusive
learning environment, which allows students to feel safe taking risks and develop a lifelong love of
learning. As a teacher, I value social, emotional education and the creation of an inclusive learning
environment where students feel as if they have a defined role in the classroom. After student teaching
within the district, it is clear this is a place where I could live these beliefs and would love to work and
grow.

In May, I will complete the Stanley Teacher Prep/Boettcher Teacher Residency licensure program and
will have a Colorado initial teacher license. In December 2017, I will graduate with a Master of Arts in
Education and a Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Learner endorsement. During my yearlong
residency, I learned and applied a broad range of teaching strategies. I constructed my lessons by
consulting the Colorado Academic Standards, which allowed me to create clear objectives and learning
targets. Each students experience was enriched because I differentiated my lesson plans to meet their
unique learning styles and needs. Above all, in my lessons and teaching, I created a safe classroom
environment that promoted collaboration, inquiry and a lifelong love of learning focused on developing a
growth mindset and a love of reading. It is through the creation of a safe classroom community that my
students took risks, took ownership over their learning, and excelled to reach their highest potential.

My teaching experience has provided me the opportunity to witness the various developmental stages of
students ages two to seven and learn how adjust my planning and teaching accordingly. This knowledge
gives me a distinctive set of skills because I know where students are coming from and where they need
to go in order to be successful and meet the grade level expectations outlined by the Colorado Academic
Standards.

In order to take care of the job of teaching, we must first take care of our students because they are the
curriculum. I would love the opportunity to share and live this belief in the Denver Public School District.
I look forward to speaking with you regarding how my experience and abilities can best meet the needs of
your schools.

Sincerely,

Alexandra Weisbart
