KANTIPUR CITY COLLEGE 3 A vehicle traveling at a speed of 50 Kmph

wasstoppedwithin2.5 secs after the full application of brakes.

UNIT TEST
Calculate the skid resistance. [5]
LEVEL:- B. E. (Civil) III/II
SUBJECT:- Transportation Engineering II
FULL MARKS:- 25
TIME:- 01:00 hrs. PASS MARKS:- 10

Attempt ALL questions.

1. The following speed data were collected during spot speed

study (in kmph):

90, 80, 75, 85, 100, 91, 60, 74, 84, 92, 89, 77, 94, 83

Calculate: a) Time mean speed.

b) Space mean speed.

c) What will be average density if mean

headway is 8 sec?

2. On cross roads A and B the heaviest traffic volume

during the design hour are 700 & 400 vehicles. The
approach speeds are 60 and 45 Kmph for road A and B
respectively. The width of road A is 14 m and that of B is
10m. Design the traffic signal for vehicles only using
approximate method. Draw phase diagram also. (Assume
suitable data if necessary) [10]
