SPECIFICATION
25
2.1 Introduction
This section contains the specification of the Rover prototype. There are few criteria set by the client,
EMPACT, and the contractors would have to build the prototype that meets the requirement of the
project.
The drawing package should be referred to for all the specific dimensions of the Rover prototype. This
section will contain the summarized version of the main dimensions are as follows in Table 1.0:
26
2.3 Summary of the materials needed
For Item no.4 and no.5, the Curtin Workshop can provide the following tools for you to work
with your project.
For Item no.3, no.6 and no.7, the contractors should have owned these simple tools already.
However if they do not have the tools mentioned, the designers will provide for them.
The sum of total costs for both materials and tools are RM25.86.
27
2.5 Construction Procedure
1. Use a hot glue gun and attach three CDs together to become a stack.
2. Repeat step 1 for other CDs.
3. Use a scissor or cutter to cut a small part of both top and bottom of the balloons.
4. Use the balloons from step 3 to carefully wrap each stack of CDs around.
5. Use a pen and poke a hole on the middle of the balloon-wrapped CDs.
6. Use a drill and make a hole on the middle of the bottle cap.
7. Repeat step 6 for all the bottle caps.
8. Use a hot glue gun to stick two bottle caps, one on each side on the middle of the CDs. The holes
must be aligned with each other.
9. Repeat step 8 for all other CDs.
10. Insert the CDs onto the axle.
28
2.6 Specialist Construction Techniques
2.6.3 Hacksaw
Hacksaw is used to cut hard components such as PVC pipe into parts. Hacksaw can be very
dangerous as it has sharp saw tooth which may cause bleeding or other serious injuries. Similarly to
power drill, contractors can use a G-clamp to hold the component hence easier to cut the component
without them moving around. Also, contractors are advised to wear gloves during the cutting process to
minimize the danger chance.

TENDER EVALUATION
CRITERIA
30
3.0 Introduction
This TEC will be used in selecting the most suitable group of contractors for the
construction of our teams Rover Prototype. The contractors will be evaluated according
to the criteria mentioned below to be selected rather than being biased towards any group.
The main purpose of this TEC is that all contractors undergo same fair evaluation in
order to be chosen for the construction of this car.
The table includes marking scheme for every criteria and some criteria encompass some
important tasks that must be satisfied in order to get the contract. It should be noted that
once a company has officially taken the contract then failing to oblige with the agreed
criteria will be dealt very strictly and the company will be penalized for doing so. Each
criteria consist of total 20 marks.
