MCT Observation - Lesson Reflection 1


4th week Monday Class Science Lesson: Plant Life Cycle 2

In week 4, my MCT decide to come and observed me on Mondays lesson. My lesson


was connected to the lesson of which is Life Cycle of Plants. After the lesson ends, my MCT
provides me with a good feedback which shows that I practiced over the weeks before.

Regarding my feedback from my mentor, for the science lesson in Monday.

time. I noticed that I was doing a good job in
guiding students in the experiment because I was
able to stop students from saying the word
FREEZE. Students put the pencils and stop
touching the things in the table and listening very
carefully to my directions. The reason that I stopped
them from making sure that they are sharing and working together. Also, to use the safety tools
like the gloves provided in each tray in groups (figure 1). I liked that my management gets
stronger than previous semester; I was struggling with children in managing their movement and
classroom.

One of the things that my MCT observed that I did a good job in choosing the activities
that are linked well with the LOs which is learning objectives of the lesson. I was pleasant
that I did sufficient activities for the proper concept. I think I achieved my both two goals in this
long session. Otherwise, I did not do very well in matching those two learning objectives
together. I think I was confused when I thought about the learning outcomes, and I was focusing
on a general idea of Plant Life Cycle.

However, I thought about the Scientific Process for


3rd graders will not work feasibly or students may face
difficulties. But, actually, students recognize how to do it and
fill in the paper (figure 2). So, the student did the first three
parts on Monday, after observation we collected the results
and data on Wednesday. The thing that it works also is that

Also, the Venn diagram was achieving my specific goal


which comparing between stage one and two in the plant life
cycle (figure 3). I did this activity because students are familiar
with doing Venn diagram in language lessons as I attend all the
classes with them daily. I noticed the appropriateness of the
activities needed for a child. Figure 3: This activity was strong
and students were capable to do it.

In the end, I liked that students were active and punctual. When students work well with me
and paying attention, I performed better. Because I have the opportunity to model and exemplify
the activities. However, when students interrupt and distract others by chatting or moving
around. I think here is when a student needs to have warning sequences. All in all, I have blessed
that the lesson works better than the other three weeks before and I hope that the next lesson I
focused on my lesson plan more.
