1. Objectives of the course:

Co 1 To discuss the concept of entrepreneurship and examine the qualities and
skills of an entrepreneur.
Co 2 To recognize the benefits and drawbacks of entrepreneurship and evaluate
problems and opportunities of women entrepreneurs.
Co 3 To summarize the various forms of business enterprises and the role of the
government in promoting entrepreneurship.
Co 4 To analyze the available opportunities and evaluate the strategies logically
for successfully managing the start ups.
Co 5 To promote awareness among the students with regard to the methods of
generating new business ideas and utilizing available opportunities.
Co 6 To formulate a business plan and generate a write-up of a business report.
Co 7 To commercially exploit patents, copyrights, trademarks and geographical
indicators in an ethical manner.
Co 8 Outline the various sources of finance available from different financial
institutions.

2. Course Pre Requisites:

The student should have the knowledge of fundamentals of general management, an


interest in the working of business organizations and an inexhaustible spirit in self-
employment to understand this subject.

4. Course Outcomes:

a) To recognize the qualities, skills and characteristics needed for becoming an entrepreneur.
b) Demonstrate the ability to self-analyze an entrepreneurial career.
c) To achieve proficiency in the creation and management of new ventures
d) Gain knowledge about the various forms of business enterprises and the role of
government in promoting entrepreneurship.
e) Capability to generate various business ideas and evaluate the feasibility of those ideas.
f) Demonstrate the ability to conceive a business plan and construct a business model.
g) Ability to conduct feasibility studies through environment, industry and competitor
analysis.
h) To determine various marketing strategies and markets for the products and services.
i) Compare and select appropriate sources of finance based on the need for capital.
j) Critical evaluation of the effect of taxes on the start ups and utilizing the subsidies
provided by the government.
k) Write a feasible business report for soliciting investments and for obtaining loans from
the financial institutions.

Course notes will be provided to the students after the completion of each unit.

10. Mini Projects:

I have asked the students to collect information about various entrepreneurs from different
nationalities. The students then need to analyze the various factors which proved decisive in the
success of the entrepreneurial venture of the selected entrepreneurs.
