Activities/Procedures

Active learning:
Students will be called one by one to walk to their carpet squares.
Warm up (7 habits) students will walk around their carpet squares as
we say the 7 habits of an Effective Leader.
Students will then move their carpet squares back into a line and sit
and wait for instruction.
The teacher will say the objective.
A student will repeat todays objective.
The teacher and student will talk about the number four.
The teacher will explain the game to students.
The teacher will call on a volunteer to help demonstrate the game to
the students.
1. students will start at the green mark
2. students will pick a activity card and do whats on the card ex: bear crawl,
run.
3. Students will perfume that activity card until they reach the red stopping
mark.
4. The student will then be asked to show the number four in a new way. ex:
tally marks, writing the number, drawing the number.
5. After showing the number four in a new way the students will then start
at a colored starter and jump over a bar high, medium, or low.
6. The students will then go to the four colored buckets.
7. Students will then get four colored buttons and toss the buttons to match
the colored buckets out in front.
8. When students have match each color button with the bucket the student
will then get a cheer. Ex: cowboy, train.
9. Students will then go back and set on their carpet square with nice hands.
This game will repeat until all students have participated.
Once every student has completed the game we will review the
number four.
Students will then be called one by one to put away their carpet
square and get in line to transition to whole group.

Whole Group:

After transiting to the next room the students will then sit in their desk.
The teacher will then tell students the objective
A student will the repeat the objective
The teacher will then read the book Pete the cat and his four groovy
buttons
After reading the story the students will then retell the story using a
Velcro Pete the cat
1. students will be called one by one to pull off buttons while retelling the
story.
2. After students, have finished retelling the story the students will be
assessed
3. To close the lesson students will be assessed orally about the Pete the
Cat book.
