Teacher Professional Growth Plan: Fall 2016 PSII

Mariah Besplug

Goal #1: During my PSII practicum I want to ensure that all students are
highly engaged in all learning activities. To do this, I will make sure that they
are all participating in relevant and meaningful ways.
Timeline: Throughout my PSII practicum. Each day I will self-assess whether
or not I have met that goal.
Strategies:
Include current events.
Give students choice in learning activities.
Collaborate with teacher associate to ensure that learning activities fit
the class and that student learning will benefit from them.
Get to know my students interests.
Observe other classes to see how other teachers engage students.
Performance Indicators: I will self assess myself after completing a lesson
to determine whether or not I am meeting this goal. To do this self-
assessment I will fill out the chart below.

Goal #2: As a continuing goal from PS1 I would like to implement and reflect
on a collection of classroom management tools for Grade 7. By building this
repertoire I hope to be a more confident and consistent teacher.
Timeline: Throughout my PSII practicum. Each week I will focus and reflect
on a different classroom management technique.
Strategies:
Discuss the use of classroom management techniques with my teacher
associate.
Implement the ones she uses to ensure fluidity among the two of us.
If flexibility allows, research other techniques that are specific to the
needs of the classroom. For example, if transitions are difficult, I will
focus my research on this area. It classroom community is a problem
then I will focus on these types.
Whether it be from my teacher associate or through my own research, I
will focus every week on a different technique and reflect on how it is
working.
Discover new ideas from observing my class as well as other classes.
Performance Indicators:
Throughout the practicum I will reflect on the progress of this goal using this
chart. It will allow me to easily keep track of the classroom management
techniques that I collect. It will also give me the space to reflect on how they
worked, how I felt about them, and in what situations I will use them in the
future.
