Zellstoff Celgar will cover the costs of the consultant to perform soil sam-
pling, obtaining government authorization and delivery costs of Celgrow
soil amendment based on access with a large truck/pup combination. Acre-
age should be able to accommodate at least 6 truck/pup loads. The two
major components of Celgrow are individual wood fibres lost from the
pulping process and surplus bacteria from the wastewater biological treat-
ment facility. Wood fibres enhance soil moisture retention and bacteria are
a good source of soil nutrients. The landowner is responsible for spreading
and incorporating Celgrow into their soil.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang !
The Capitol Theatre is thrilled to be hosting the 29th annual
Summer Youth Program. This years auditions will take place
on Monday, April 10. Please have a song ready to sing for the
directors so that they can hear your vocal range.
We are all very excited that we were able to secured the
rights to produce Chitty Chitty Bang Bang - a fantastic musi-
cal adventure with an out of this world car that flies through
the air and sails the seas says Stephanie Fischer, Capitol The-
atre executive director.
Based on the beloved 1968 film version of Ian Flemings
childrens book and featuring an unforgettable score by the
Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
is a family friendly blockbuster.
An eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts sets about restoring
an old race car from a scrap heap with the help of his children,
Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car has magical
properties, including the ability to float and take flight.
Each year this programs young cast works together with
experienced directors to create this theatre production that
have become a tradition for Nelson theatre goers. The program
runs daily, 9 am - 4 pm from July 3 July 30. Five performances
will take place July 27, 28, 29 at 7:30 pm and July 29 and 30 at 2
pm. Those interested in auditioning, please contact Eva at the

Start your garden right

with a seed starting mix. We have 3 different brands in the store to choose from
and they all work great! They are a finer cut of peat and smaller grinds of perlite
and vermiculite which helps retain a bit more moisture. They are also a lower
fertilizer charge which prevents young seedlings from burning. We add Azomite to 2016
our seedling mix which helps with root development and pest/disease resistance.
DO NOT add garden soil, compost or manure which can introduce pathogens and
increase dampening off. There is also no need to add fertilizer until transplant time
in a couple of weeks.

Kissing Project Volunteers Needed
Did you know that the City of Nelson has one of the
most culturally diverse communities in Canada!
Artist-in-residence, Sylvia Grace Borda, wants to cap-
ture this embracing spirit among those who call Nelson
home! She is interested in using the idea of the kiss as a
welcoming symbol to profile the richness of Nelsons
community and to excite a local and global audience in
Nelson as a featured destination!
Sylvias idea for the project was inspired by an archi-
val photograph in the Touchstone collections. The pho-
tograph is an image of a Doukhobor couple kissing by
City Hall in the 1950s. Sylvia believes this image is sim-
ply iconic and belongs on the cover of TIME or PEOPLE
magazine! In her words, Nelson is not just a leisure or
sports city, but a place of love, too. Can Nelson be the
Paris of the North?!
Time period for the photo shoot: Kissing Project par-
ticipants will be scheduled on one of the production dates
of Friday, April 7 or Saturday, April 8 between 10 am to
7 pm. Participants will work closely with resident artist,
Sylvia Grace Borda to capture a 360 portrait of a kiss-
ing pose. Couples of all sorts are encouraged, even four
legged friends! Queer, straight, gay, family members!
Diversity is welcome!
Note: Participants will receive their own artist copy of
their kissing portrait as a keepsake of the event. Portraits
of the kissing couples will be displayed as part of the exhi-
bition starting June 8 at the Oxygen Art Centre. If you
