We can learn anything

Nobody was born smart. By Ana Maria Castellano

Joao Silva and Roberto Teixeira are friends of our students Grazi and Las. They are on
an International Exchange Program for College Students. They are going to travel to
Toronto, Canada next week. Today they decided to visit a friend who is having some
problems with Math at Senior High School. His name is Mauro.

[Mauro]: Joo, do you know Math? Oh, my goodness I need someone to help me! Do
you know anyone who could teach me? I am the weakest in my class. It seems
everybody understands Algebra better than I do!

[Joo]: Dont say that! We all started from zero without talking, without any knowledge
on basic algebra.

[Mauro]: Yes, I know it. However, look at Maria! She is smarter than I am. We are
studying in the same class, but her grades are the best. Mine are the worst.

[Roberto]: Oh, You know how to ride a bike, dont you? When you were born, you did
not know how to read, write, and ride a bicycle. Nobody is good at anything at first.
Of course, with a good teacher patient enough to teach you gradually, you will learn
what you need to understand Math.

[Maria]Yeah! In our last class, we learned that Einstein was not good on Math either.
There was a time in his life he was not able to count from one to ten.

[Mauro]: You are right! Shakespeare had to learn the abcs just like all the rest of us.

[Joao]Thankfully, we were born to learn slowly. Surely, we start slipping, tripping and
crawling.

[Maria]: We stumbled, we crawled, we failed and we fall. Confusing, trying, frustrated

we start all over again until one day we walk. One foot in front of the other, one idea
on top of the next.

[Roberto]: Each wrong answer makes our brain a little stronger.

[Maria] Failing is just another word for growing, if you keep trying. If everything is
right, then how are you going to continue your learning process?

[Roberto]This is learning. Knowing that you get it, even when you did not yet. For the
most beautiful and complex concepts over all the universe are built over basic ideas
anyone can understand.

[Mauro]: Ok, my friends. I got the idea. I will do everything I can to learn and get
better. I am going to be the best on Math. I am going to work hard on it!

[Roberto]: That is it! Whoever you are you just need to know one thing. You can learn
anything.
