Industry understanding is evolving rapidly
DMBOK considers Data Governance at the center of all other
functions. Thus DG ties all of the functions together as needed.

Current Data Governance Views

"A discipline that provides clear-cut policies; procedures; standards; roles;
responsibilities; and accountabilities to ensure that data is well-managed
as an enterprise resource.
Last years DGIO conference produced over 30 unique definitions

The Processes
The Processes
Many of the process that used to be within the scope of Data Management
are now absorbed within Data Governance
At the time of the DMBOK version1 most of the processes and
responsibilities (People) were under IT
The Data Governance processes and People involved are out of
date and will be revised

SO what is happening in your organization. (Speed Round?)

The People

Not just IT
We have seen a hybrid resourcing model
Driven by the business to meet the business challenges for data capture,
data quality, and data usage. Operations to BI
Highly supported by IT resources. IT is in a support role

Today the Chief Data Officer (CDO) owns Data Governance and is
responsible for all DG processes.
Many Data Management functions are now the responsibility of the DG
team

SO what is happening in your Organization?
