This document provides the information needed to use HP 3PAR Service Processor Onsite Customer Care (SPOCC) to maintain
and update the HP 3PAR Service Processor.

1 SPOCC Overview
SPOCC is a suite of service tools applications that provide a web-based user interface for support
of the Service Processor (SP) and the HP 3PAR array. It provides a vehicle to review logs and files,
to store various types of support documentation, and to manually record product configuration
details that are not directly available from the product.
To navigate the features of SPOCC, begin with the graphic navigation panel on the left side of
the screen. The various features and functions of SPOCC are all contained in one or more of the
modules that are named in the navigation panel.
The navigation panel contains the following modules:

2 Files
Overview
The Files module provides a way to view logs received from the product and/or the service
processor. When you select the display, you are presented with the production data area.
The files subdirectory is where the product, service processor and configuration files are stored.
You can view these files by clicking the folder icon in the left column, under Type.
Within the transfer subdirectory, you can create directories and files and upload files from
your "network neighborhood" to the service processor. Within these subdirectories, files can
be also be deleted and edited.
You can sort the columns by clicking the column headings. An arrow shows whether the sort
is ascending or descending. To toggle between these two sort options, click the column
heading.

Navigation

View: View file

Move/Copy: Click this icon to move a document, file, or folder.

Delete: Click this icon to delete the document or file.

Edit: Some files are editable. Click this icon to edit the selected document.

Transfer: Click this icon to manually transfer a file back to HP 3PAR Central. A file transferred
this way is cataloged and available for display activities.

Download: Click this icon to download the file to your local computer.

Parent: This navigation icon displays parent directory content.

Folder: This navigation icon displays directory content.

Paging: This navigation icon displays first, previous, next, and last pages, respectively, for
large-directory navigation.

3 Support
Overview
Click Support to display a two-fold support activities page:
The first part is the InServs section. This section displays all attached storage systems with links
to perform various support and diagnostic activities, including Guided Maintenance.
The second part is the Service Processor section. This section is a launching pad for functions
that relate to the Service Processor.

InServs

Health CheckWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, a cluster status is
generated, and then you are presented with a summary report of possible anomalies within
the storage system. Click View Details to see an in-depth picture of the cluster or storage
system.

NOTE: It can take several minutes to generate the cluster status.


These reports are stored on the SP. To see these reports, on the Files tab in SPOCC, click the
folder icon next to files, click the folder icon next to the system number of the storage system
you want, and then click the folder icon next to status.
Guided MaintenanceWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, the Guided
Maintenance window is displayed, and you are presented with a menu of maintenance options.
InSploreWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, the SP launches the InSplore
task as a background task. This application queries the health of the storage system, tars it
up, and sends it back to HP Support, if allowed, for technical support.
Performance AnalyzerWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, you are
presented with a Performance Analysis workbench. At this point, you can select the desired
performance commands and options. When you run the Performance Analyzer, it launches
all the commands simultaneously, retrieves the real-time data, tars up the data, and then sends
it back to HP Support, if allowed, for technical support.
Locate CageWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, the SP queries the
storage system to determine available cages and then prompts you to select the cage you

want to locate. After you select the cage, the user LEDs on the desired cage flash amber for
30 seconds.
Execute a CLI CommandWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, you are
presented with a field to enter a CLI command in. The results are then displayed. Note that
this page is not interactive; it displays only the results of an issued command.
Execute a Command on a NodeWhen you click this link for an identified storage system,
the SP queries the storage system to determine available nodes, and you are presented with
a page from which to select the desired nodes and enter a command. The results are then
displayed.

NOTE: This option is available only to authorized users.

InServ Product MaintenanceWhen you click this link for an identified storage system, the
Storage System Product Maintenance menu is displayed. This menu includes the following
options:
Retrieve Application Core Files

Retrieve System Crash Dumps

Retrieve InSplore Data

Reboot an InServ Cluster/Node

Halt an InServ Cluster/Node

Upgrade HP 3PAR InForm OS

Install License Key

NOTE: 3parcust users can access this option only if they are running the A-class HP
3PAR StoreServ 7000 Storage system.

Service Processor
[status]Click this link for a view of the currently running SP-related and storage system-related
processes.
[details]Click this link to see the list of installed packages that are associated with the current
version of the software.
Launch SPLORClick this link to launch a background job that takes a snapshot of the whole
SP, tars it up, and sends it back to HP Support. This option is very useful in troubleshooting
SP operations.
Launch GetWeeklyClick this link to see the following options:
Click Proceed with Launch to launch the "weekly" file collection process, which retrieves
current information starting from the time the last weekly process was run, tars it up, and
presents it for download. This option is used primarily to help service providers retrieve
current status while troubleshooting. If the SP supports more than one storage system, you
are presented with the download directory for downloading the "weekly" files that you
choose.

NOTE: Launching the GetWeekly program from this menu does not affect normal weekly
file collection processing, which always retrieves the last seven days of activity.

Click Download Only to download the most recently run "weekly" file. If the SP supports
more than one storage system, you are presented with the download directory for
downloading multiple "weekly" files.
SP Control MenuClick this link for direct access to the SP Control menu under SPMAINT on
the Web, which provides many of the basic SP control utilities.
SP Network Configuration MenuClick this link for direct access to the SP Network
Configuration menu under SPMAINT on the Web, which provides network and connection
portal configuration utilities.
SPMAINT on the WebClick this link for web-based versions of many of the SPmaint functions.
Firewall ManipulationClick this link for direct access to the SP Firewall Control menu under
SPMAINT on the Web, which provides firewall utilities.
Customer Controlled AccessClick this link for direct access to the Customer Controlled Access
menu under SPMAINT on the Web, which provides communications control between HP 3PAR
and the SP.
Hot FixesClick this link for access to a list of hotfix files to run, if any such hotfixes are
available.
Storage System Setup WizardClick this link to launch the Storage System Setup wizard.

4 Notify
Overview
Click Notify to display a list of all notification records and user profiles that have been created on
the SP.
Notification is a subscription-based activity. If you want to be notified for a particular product,
site, or symptom, you must add a notification record, which defines how and when you want
to be notified.
You can selectively suppress notifications by creating a suppression record, which inhibits
notification based on a user-defined symptom match.
User profiles define the email addresses, prime shifts, and affiliations for each user. You can
edit , delete , or add profiles as desired.
A user profile must be established before a notification record can be created for that user.
The Quick Setup link provides a quick method to create up to three user profiles and default
notification records.
To use local notification, you must configure the mailhost and enable local notification. You
can perform these operations from the Setup menu.

Adding a User Profile with Quick Setup


1. Enter the first name, last name, and email address for a user to be set up.

NOTE: You can add users at any time. For more information, see Adding user profiles.

2. Select the appropriate user Category from the selection list.


3. Enter the user company as appropriate.
4. Click Add User Profile and Notification Record.

Adding a Notification Record


1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click Add Record at the top of the Notification list.
3. From the selection list, select the user for which this notification is intended.

NOTE: If the user is not in the selection list, add a user profile for that user, and then add a
notification record.

4. For Notification Record Type, click Normal.

5. Click Select. The Add Notification screen is displayed.
a. Select the desired notification type:
Product
Site
b. Select the desired duration for this notification record.

NOTE: The default duration is from the current date to ten years from the current date.

c. Select the desired notification means for each of the following conditions.

NOTE: Ensure that the user profile is set up for the desired means.

Prime Shift - High Urgency


Prime Shift - Low Urgency
Off-Shift - High Urgency
Off-Shift - Low Urgency
d. Click Submit. You are returned to the notification list, which displays the notification
record you just created.

Editing an Existing Notification Record


1. Click Edit for the notification record you want to edit.
2. Make the desired changes.
3. Click Submit. You are returned to the notification list, which displays the notification record
you just edited.

Deleting an Existing Notification Record


1. Click Delete for the notification record you want to delete.
2. Confirm that you want to delete the record.

Adding a Symptom Notification Record


1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click Add Record at the top of the notification list.
3. From the selection list, select the user for which this notification is intended.

NOTE: If the user is not in the selection list, add a user profile for that user, and then add a
notification record.

4. For the Notification Record Type, click Symptom.

5. Click Select. The Add Symptom Notification screen is displayed.
a. Enter the symptom that you want to trigger a notification.

NOTE: The symptom notification is based on pattern matching, so a user should enter
only that part of a symptom that will produce the desired match. Regular expressions are
permitted.

b. Select the desired product family from the Product Family list.
c. Select the desired duration for this notification record.

NOTE: The default duration is from the current date to ten years from the current date.

d. Select the desired notification means for each of the following conditions.

NOTE: Ensure that the user profile is set up for the desired means.

Prime Shift - High Urgency


Prime Shift - Low Urgency
Off-Shift - High Urgency
Off-Shift - Low Urgency
e. Click Submit. You are returned to the notification list, which displays the notification
record you just created.

Suppressing Notifications
The suppression functionality allows users to define a symptom for which they do not want to be
notified. It is generally used when a system is "spewing" many of the same type of events and a
user does not want to keep getting notified for them. Using the suppression functionality allows
notifications to continue for the site, product, or group on all but the identified suppression record.
1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click Add Record at the top of the notification list.
3. From the selection list, select the user for which this notification is intended.

NOTE: If the user is not in the selection list, add a user profile for that user, and then add a
notification record.

4. For the Notification Record Type, click Suppression.

5. Click Select. The Add Suppress Notification Record screen is displayed.
a. Select the desired notification type:

Site
b. Enter the symptom desired for suppression.

NOTE: The symptom for suppression notification is based on pattern matching, so a


user should enter only that part of a symptom that will produce the desired match. Regular
expressions are permitted.

NOTE: To suppress all notifications for a particular system or account that is part of a
larger group, enter .* (a period followed by an asterisk) in the Suppression Symptom
line.

c. Select the desired duration for this notification record.

NOTE: The default duration is from the current date to ten years from the current date.

d. Click Submit. You are returned to the notification list, which displays the suppression
record you just created.

User Profiles
The following sections describe how to add and edit a user profile, edit a prime shift, and add a
shift exception.

Adding a User Profile


1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click User Profiles.
3. Click Add User . The User Profile Form is displayed.
4. Update the desired fields. The "Email 1", "Email 2", and "Email 3" fields correspond to
notification means and are used to define how and where a user wants to be notified.
Notifications are sent to "email-type" addresses, such as Joe_FE@airmessage.net.
5. Update the basic prime shift details.

NOTE: These prime shift details establish a the basic prime shift records for this user. After
you add the user, you can edit this prime shift in detail by editing the user profiles and clicking
the View / Edit Prim Shift Details link.

6. Click Add Record.

Editing a User Profile


1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click User Profiles.
3. Click Edit for the desired user. The User Profile Form is displayed.
4. Update the desired fields. The "Email 1", "Email 2", and "Email 3" fields correspond to
notification means and are used to define how and where a user wants to be notified.
Notifications are sent to "email-type" addresses, such as Joe_FE@airmessage.net.
5. If a user wants to view or update his or her prime shift details, click the View / Edit Prim Shift
Details link to display the prime shift and prime shift exceptions for that user.
6. Click Update Record.

Editing a Prime Shift
1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click User Profiles.
3. Click Edit for the desired user. The User Profile Form is displayed.
4. Click the view/edit shift details link. The list of prime shifts and exceptions is displayed.
5. Click Edit for the shift that you want to edit.

NOTE: A user can have multiple shifts set for different time periods.

6. Update the desired fields, such as days of the week, hours of the day, shift duration, description,
and so on.
7. Click Update Prime Shift.

Adding a Shift Exception


1. In the left navigation pane, click Notify.
2. Click User Profiles.
3. Click Edit for the desired user. The User Profile Form is displayed.
4. Click the view/edit shift details link. The list of prime shifts and exceptions is displayed.
5. Click the Add Prime Shift Exception link above Prime Shift Listing. The Add Prime Shift Exception
Form is displayed.
6. Update the desired fields, paying close attention to the override action, to specify whether
this is an exception to place the user on prime shift or off prime shift during the specified date
range.
7. Click Add Prime Shift Exception.

5 Reports
Overview
The Reports module provides a repository for varied types of information reporting.

SP Function Monitors
Msg Log Monitor Selecting this monitor displays a new window that tails the current message
log. It refreshes every five seconds to provide insight into running SP activities.
Work Queue Monitor Selecting this monitor displays a new window that displays the current
work queue. It refreshes every five seconds.
Transfer Queue Monitor Selecting this monitor displays a new window that displays the
current transfer queue. It refreshes every five seconds.
View User Activity Logs Selecting this option displays the list of user activity logs. Users can
then select the log they want to view.

6 Setup
Overview
The Setup module provides access to utilities that are used to configure applications within the
SPOCC interface.

Configuring a Mailhost
1. In the left navigation pane, click Setup.
2. Under Notification Maintenance Utilities, click the Configure Mailhost link.
3. The form indicates whether a mailhost is already configured. If a mailhost is already configured,
update or remove the current configuration as required. If a mailhost is not already configured,
add the mailhost configuration:
a. Enter the IP Address of the mailhost where this SP is to relay email.
b. Enter the Domain Name of the mailhost.

NOTE: The domain name is not the fully qualified name of the mailhost (such as
mailhost.3par.com or mailhost.west.3par.com) but rather the associated domain name
(such as 3par.com or west.3par.com).

c. Configure the optional fields as needed:


From ID OverrideOverride any application-specific "From Ids", and make this the
default "From Id" on all mail from this SP.
Additional Send-To AddressesAdd any additional email addresses required on all
mail sent from this SP. This is a comma-delimited setting.
4. Click Add Mailhost or Update Mailhost as appropriate to configure the mailhost.

Enabling/Disabling Local Notification


By clicking the Enabling/Disabling Local Notification link, an authorized user can toggle the local
notification setting between enabled and disabled.

NOTE: Enabling local notification provides access to the Advanced Configuration Menu.

Advanced Configuration Menu


Items on this menu are optional, but they do provide the ability to modify several local notification
attributes.
Edit Sites Table
This function provides general table maintenance capabilities (such as add, update, inquire,
and delete) for the database Sites table. This table is generally used to update site information
that might pertain to a specific customer (for example, site number and site name).
The base record cannot be deleted; however, additional sites can be added. Note that installed
products have to be manually added or transferred to a site by using the Edit Product Table
option on the Advanced Configuration Menu.
Edit Product Table
This function provides general table maintenance capabilities (such as add, update, inquire,
and delete) for the database Product table. This table contains installed products at this site.

Generally speaking, there will be little need to update this table other than to delete deinstalled
products.
Products are programmatically added during add storage server activities. They are NOT
deleted automatically during a remove storage server operation. Deleting a product from
this table will also delete all notification records, for all users, for that product. Therefore, if a
product is permanently deinstalled, a user or administrator will use this utility to delete the
product and all associated notification records.
Predefined Symptoms
This function provides general table maintenance capabilities (such as add, update, inquire,
and delete) for data that is used to populate pulldown lists for predefined symptoms. This
pulldown list is available on the add/edit Symptom Notification records. It is generally used
as a way to package common symptoms that a local user may want to subscribe to for
notification.
Edit Default Shifts and Shift Exceptions
This function provides the user or administrator with an interface (add, update, inquire, and
delete) for maintaining the default prime shift template and default prime shift exceptions that
are applicable to that site or customer. The default prime shift cannot be deleted and comes
into play if a local notification user deletes all of his or her personal prime shift records, which
are accessed through the user profile. The prime shift records are created when the user is
added to the local notification list.
Default prime shift exceptions are global overrides to all prime shifts. Generally speaking,
they are the company holidays where employees would not technically have a "prime shift"
on that day. Users can override these defaults or add their own overrides by adding their own
prime shift exceptions through the View/Edit Shift Details link under their user profiles.

Enabling/Disabling RAP Forwarding


By clicking the Enable/Disable RAP Forwarding to 3PAR link, an authorized user can toggle RAP
forwarding between enabled and disabled.

NOTE: RAP forwarding is the utility that sends a copy of all local notification email to 3PAR for
notification as defined within the STATS system.

Customer Documentation Utilities


These utilities are used to maintain any customer documentation that is loaded onto the SP.
Documentation CDs can be loaded on the SP during the initial installation (moment of birth [MOB]),
from this menu, or from Secure Service Collector software deployments.
Load Customer Documentation
This function prompts the user to load a Customer Documentation CD and provides a running
log of its progress.
Maintain Customer Documentation
This function displays a list of all documents currently loaded on the SP and provides an option
to delete them.
View Customer Documentation
This is a link to the customer documentation jump page.

Apache Web Server Logs
The Apache web server access and error logs are used primarily to research anomalies surrounding
the SPOCC interface. A new log starts after each reboot or after a 3-MB file size is reached. You
can view these logs by clicking the folder-and-magnifying-glass icon next to the log name.

7 SPmaint
Overview
The SPmaint module provides access to utilities used for Service Processor maintenance. The SPmaint
utility is the primary interface for the support (configuration, maintenance, and firmware update)
of both the system and its SP.

SP Control/Status
By clicking the links on this menu, you can perform the following operations:
Display the SP version
Display the SP status
Reboot the SP
Halt the SP
Start or stop storage system-related SP processes
View the SP Transfer Queue Monitor
Trigger an SP log transfer
Reset the QUIESCE state for the transfer process
Mount or unmount a CDROM
Set the date, time, and geographical location for the SP
Manage NTP configuration
Configure user access, including adding or changing a password, modifying a user profile,
and adding or deleting a user
Modify the SP process control parameters
Perform cleanup operations, including removing old files and running an SP core dump check
The following sections describe how to perform some common operations in SPOCC.

Changing the SP Password


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
3. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click SP User Access Control.
4. Under Service Processor - SP User Access Control Menu, click Change User Password.
5. In the Select User list, select the user name whose password you want to change.
6. In the New Password field, enter the new password.
7. In the Confirm Password field, enter the new password again.
8. Click Change Password.

Adding a User to a User Profile Group


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
3. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click SP User Access Control.
4. Under Service Processor - SP User Access Control Menu, click Modify User Profile.
5. In the Select User list, select the user you want to modify, and then click Modify User Profile.
6. Click to select the user profile groups that you want to add the user to, and then click Add to
Selected Groups.

Deleting a User
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
3. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click SP User Access Control.
4. Under Service Processor - SP User Access Control Menu, click Delete User.
5. In the Select User list, select the user you want to delete, and then click Delete User.

Adding a User
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
3. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click SP User Access Control.
4. Under Service Processor - SP User Access Control Menu, click Add User.
5. Configure the user ID and password, and then click Add New User.

Updating the Service Processor Software


CAUTION: Using SPOCC to upgrade from SP 2.5.2 to SP 4.1.x is not supported. Contact HP
Support for assistance.
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
3. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click Download/Stage SP software.
4. Use one of the following methods to stage the SP software:
Stage from a network path. To do this, enter the full path name of the SP software update
location.
Stage from a CDROM. To do this, select the CDROM check box.
Stage from an ISO image that is stored either on a CDROM or on a local source. To do
this:
1. Select the ISO Image check box, and then click Stage Software.
2. Complete the information as appropriate by entering the SP directory path where
the ISO image resides, by selecting the Stage ISO from CDROM check box, or by
entering the local source path in the Upload and Stage ISO from local source field.
5. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
6. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click SP Control/Status.
7. Under Service Processor - SP Control Menu, click Update SP software.
8. Under Service Processor - SP Software Menu, click Update SP software.
9. Under SP Update: Software Selection, select the update that you want from the drop-down list,
or enter the full path name of the SP software update location, and then click Update Software.
10. A warning appears, indicating that the firewall will be raised when the update is completed.
Make sure that your current IP address is in the public firewall rules, and then click OK.
11. If the update was successful, an SP Update Successful message appears on the SPOCC home
page.

Network Configuration
The following sections describe how to perform some common network configuration operations
in SPOCC.

Configuring the Firewall


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.

2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Network Configuration.
3. Under Service Processor - Network Configuration, click Firewall Manipulation.
4. Under Service Processor - SP Firewall Control, configure the settings that you want.

Adding a Public or Private Host


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Network Configuration.
3. Under Service Processor - Network Configuration, click Firewall Manipulation.
4. Under Service Processor - SP Firewall Control, click Add Public Host or Add Private Host.
5. Enter the IP address, and then click Add IP Address.

Adding a DNS Server


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Network Configuration.
3. Under Service Processor - Network Configuration, click DNS Configuration.
4. Under Service Processor - DNS Configuration, click Add DNS Server.
5. Enter the IP address, and then click Add IP Address.

Validating Remote Support


You must validate that Remote Support is functioning correctly. To do so, use the SPmaint module
in HP 3PAR Service Processor Onsite Customer Care (SPOCC).
1. Log into SPOCC (https://<SP IP>).
2. Click SPmaintNetwork ConfigurationTest 3PAR Secure Service Collector Server.
3. Verify that SPOCC displays Connectivity test to HP 3PAR Secure Service Collector Server
successful.
4. Verify that the Service Processor is transferring files successfully:
a. Click Home to return to the SPOCC home page.
The Transfer Status entry indicates the overall status of SP file transfer.
b. To access the SP File Transfer Monitor, click Transfer Status.
c. Verify that SP file transfer is successful:
The Last transfer status entry should include information about the last SP transfer,
including the date and time and a status of Ok.
The Number of files on transfer queue and retry queue should be 0 (zero), which
indicates the SP is currently able to pass files to the transport layer.
The Service Processor upload queue and SSAgent upload queue show the number
of files in the queue and should display the date, time, and filename of the most
recent file to start uploading.
If this queue becomes long, the Service Processor is encountering transfer issues. To
remedy the situation, contact HP support.
The SP File Transfer Monitor refreshes every 15 seconds.

Storage System Configuration Management


Use this option to add a new storage system to the SP.
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Configuration.
3. Under Service Processor - InServ Configuration, click Add New InServ.

4. Enter the IP address and the Super user credentials (account and password), and then click
Add IP Address.
After you add the storage system, options that are specific to that storage system are exposed.
These options are:
InfoWhen you click this option, a screen appears that provides configuration information
for the storage system.
ModifyWhen you click this option, a screen appears with fields that you can modify
as needed to change the configuration information.
RemoveWhen you click this option, a message appears that asks you to confirm that
you want to remove the storage system.

Storage System Product Maintenance


The following sections describe various product maintenance tasks that you can perform.

Retrieving Application Core Files


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor Storage System Product Maintenance, click Retrieve Application
Core Files.
The SP queries the storage system for application core files and notifies you if any are found
and transferred.

Retrieving System Crash Dumps


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor Storage System Product Maintenance, click Retrieve System Crash
Dumps.
The SP queries the storage system for system crash dumps and notifies you if any are found
and transferred.

Retrieving InSplore Data


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor Storage System Product Maintenance, click Retrieve InSplore Data.
When you click the link for an identified storage system, the SP launches the InSplore task as
a background task. This application queries the health of the storage system, tars it up, and
sends it back to HP Support, if allowed, for technical support.

Rebooting a Storage System Cluster or Node


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor Storage System Product Maintenance, click Reboot a Storage System
Cluster or Node.
The SP queries the storage system to determine available nodes and then presents you with
a page from which you can select the nodes you want and run the command.

Halting a Storage System Cluster or Node
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor Storage System Product Maintenance, click Halt a Storage System
Cluster or Node.
The SP queries the storage system to determine available nodes and then presents you with
a page from which you can select the nodes you want and run the command.

Upgrading HP 3PAR OS
Use this option to upgrade the HP 3PAR OS for the Service Processor. You must first stage the
upgrade software and then apply it.
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click InServ Product Maintenance.
3. Under Service Processor - Storage System Product Maintenance for: <storage system>, click
Upgrade HP 3PAR InForm OS.
4. Under Upgrade, click one of the following links, depending on the action you want to take:
Upgrade Status Click to view the current version of your HP 3PAR storage device and
its current upgrade status.
Execute Upgrade pre-checks Click to perform a collection of checks and tasks to make
sure that the storage device is in a valid state before you perform the upgrade.
Upgrade HP 3PAR Storage Device Click to perform the pre-checks and then the upgrade
on the storage device.
After you click Upgrade Status or Execute Upgrade pre-checks, click Upgrade Menu to return
to the Upgrade screen.
5. To perform the upgrade, click Upgrade HP 3PAR Storage Device, and then choose the upgrade
type you want: simple or offline. The simple upgrade type is recommended for most users.
6. Click Simple, and then click Continue.
7. In the list under Select Upgrade Version, select the version you want to upgrade to, and then
click Continue.

8. Click Begin Upgrade, and then click OK.

NOTE: During the progress of the upgrade, you may see a Failed Acquired Locks error. As
a workaround for this error, you must manually kill the Insplore process. To do this, follow
these steps:
a. Open a new SPOCC window by using the same IP address as the existing SPOCC
window.
b. Click Support, click Insplore, and then click Kill Insplore.
c. Check the original SPOCC window to see whether you have received the following
message:
SUCCESS. Stopped Services and Acquired Locks. Ready to upgrade.
If this message does not appear, you must repeat steps a and b until you see the SUCCESS
message. You may have to repeat these steps several times.

NOTE: The following messages, which appear during the upgrade process, can be
safely ignored:
This node reboot will terminate the CLI session. When that
happens reconnect and continue with the upgrade.
Now transitioning to new userspace. You must reconnect your
session to proceed.

d. Perform a health check. To do this, click Support, and then click Health Check.

NOTE: After the health check is complete, you can safely ignore any fail acquired
lock error messages.

e. Check the kill_PIDs_log file to verify that the kill Insplore operation was fully successful.
To do this, click Files, click the folder icon next to files, click syslog, and then click
kill_PIDs_log. If you see a cLOCK file is empty and InServ is still running! You might need
to reboot the SP! message, HP strongly recommends that you reboot the SP. If you do
not see this message, the kill Insplore operation was fully successful.

Local Notification Configuration


To configure local notification, see Notify (page 10).

Site Authentication Key Manipulation


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Site Authentication Key Manipulation.
3. Under Service Processor Site Authentication Key Manipulation, click one of the following
options:
Generate New Site KeyTo generate a new site key
Force InServ to Current Site KeysTo force the current site keys to the storage system

Execute a CLI Command


1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Execute a CLI Command.
You are presented with a page to enter a CLI command. The results are then displayed. Note
that this page is not interactive; it displays only the results of an issued command.

Execute a Command on a Node
1. In the left navigation pane, click SPmaint.
2. Under Service Processor - SP Maintenance, click Execute a Command on a Node.
The SP queries the storage system to determine available nodes, and you are presented with
a page from which you can select the nodes you want and run the command. The results are
then displayed.

NOTE: This option is available only to authorized users.

8 Collecting SP Log Files for HP Support
To collect the Service Processor log files for HP support:
1. Connect to the Service Processor:
If you have not yet configured your permanent Service Processor IP addressin other
words, the Service Processor Setup wizard has not progressed past the Configure
networking operation in step 6 (Apply Settings) and has not yet connected to the new
Service Processor IP addressenter the temporary default Service Processor IP address:
https://<SP IP>
If you have successfully set up the Service Processor, enter your permanent Service
Processor IP address:
https://<permanent SP IP>
2. From the navigation pane, click Files.
3. Click the folder icons for files > syslog > apilogs.
4. In the Action column, click Download for each log file:

5. Zip the downloaded log files.
