teaching strategies. How
will you use them? Why 1. Firstly, lay out a few zip lock bags along with all colours

strategies? 2. Next, squeeze two different colours of coloured paint
into each zip lock bag (red & white, red & blue, yellow
& blue etc.)
3. Squeeze out as much air as possible from each bag
4. Seal each zip lock bag
5. Tape down all edges of the bag to ensure no paint leaks
out
6. I will ask each toddler to take a seat and see how they
react to the paint bags
7. Once they begin to mix the paint around, I will ask
them what they see happening
8. Ask questions such as what colours are you using?,
what colour is being created?, what does that feel
like?
9. Model drawing in the paint or placing handprint
10. Model using cars and rolling it through the paint
11. Allow bags to dry and write each toddlers name onto
the bags with a marker
Teaching Strategies:

1. Modeling

By modeling different ways to do the activity

such as drawing faces in the paint, making a
handprint or rolling cars through the paint, the
toddlers can see an example of how they can
use the activity. By imitating my actions, they
will gain an understanding of how to do the
activity.

2. Sensory Engagement

By having a hands-on experience with the

paint, the toddlers will be able to use their
sense of touch. They can also use their sense of
sight to watch the primary colours mix together
to make secondary colours.
