Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna


Romanova was the youngest and most famous
of Czar Nicholas IIs four daughters.
Born on 18 June 18, 1901, she
was executed along with her family by
Bolsheviks July 17, 1918, at only 17 years
of age.
She was raised in a simple way
by her parents. They did not think
children should show off because they
had power or money.
Anastasia was down to earth
and energetic. She loved to play pranks
on fellow family members and servants.
Sadly, her health was not always good.

After their execution, the Romanov familys


bodies were dumped into a mass grave nearby.
The grave wasnt discovered until 1970. Many
people thought that some members of the
Russian Royal Family had escaped..
Because no proof existed of her
death, several people came forward over
the ten years claiming to be Princess
Anastasia. The most famous
impersonator was an American woman
called Anna Anderson.
Anastasias aunt, Olga
Romanov,met Anderson in 1925.
Olga later told people that:As
soon as I sat down by that bed in the
Mommsen Nursing Home, I knew I was
looking at a stranger. I had left
Denmark with a hope in my heart. I left
Berlin with all hope extinguished.
