Instrument Rating Airplane - IRA Memory Aid

(Version 12)
* The following tips and shortcuts are for learning many, though NOT ALL, of the numerical answers for the test. These
sheets do not come close to covering all the questions that will be on your FAA exam, so study all of the Selected Questions in the
Flight Test software. You may want to look this study aid over a couple of times before you begin studying with the Flight Test
software so you know whats in it.
* There are tables in these handout that identify the correct answer by LOW, MID, or HIGH this means the correct answer
is the LOWEST of the 3 answer choices, the MIDDLE of the 3 answer choices, or the HIGHEST of the 3 choices it's often easier to
remember where the correct answer falls than to remember the correct answer itself.
* The small numbers in lighter print are the numbers of the questions that the memory tips refer to.

IRA INFO: DO NOT memorize the A, B, or C answer location only --- these are randomized on the exam. Sign up for the
IRA test code at the testing center. Throughout these sheets, words and/or answers are BOLDED to help recognition.

Always choose Altimeter unless 1) Straight & Level Flight = Airspeed Indicator
it's not an option, then choose Heading Ind. or Mag Compass
Airspeed indicator. 2) Establishing/Transitioning to
