KEYBOARD SPECIFICATION AND PROGRAMMING I would like to make a really strong plea for you to use the specified keyboards and synthesiser programming that Stuart Andrews and John Cameron created for these wonderful arrangements of Honk! - they are as much a part of the orchestration as the woodwind or guitar parts. We have made the discs and specifications available for you to hire and you will find this by far the easiest and most rewarding way to play the show. If for any reason you simply cannot use the original programming, then you will see that the keyboard/MD partis clearly marked with a rough description of the sounds used at every point. There are a lot of split-keyboard programmes (e.g. a xylophone in the extreme right hand and a "suitcase" piano in the left hand etc.) and a great many "customised" sounds that give the show its own character and individuality. Do your best to programme these sounds as faithfully as possible so that they blend with the rest of the orchestration. Hiring the original programming will save you hours and hours of work (and heartache!), and give you a far better production in the end, Trust me! But however you do it, I hope you find Honk! a hoot.
