Dear Parent or Guardian,

I would like to start the academic year with a bit of positivity to introduce myself to you, but also
to express my excitement about working with your child and having a part in their academic
journey. To begin, my name is Mr. Quang, and I will be your childs EFL instructor. I have a
personal passion for this subject in particular because of my own personal experience with
having to learn English as an additional language, and I understand that it can be a particularly
difficult language to master. I personally believe that English is an important language as both an
economic lingua franca and means of cultural exchange, but I will also make it clear that my
intent is to promote a peaceful coexistence between English and the language or languages that
your child has already acquired, and I say this because I believe that each student is capable of
giving a special piece to the conversation and class by drawing from these roots. My philosophy
is reflected in the goal of this course, and that is to cover the basic fundaments of the English
language along with essential grammar.
In terms of general expectations of the course, I expect each and every student to respect one
anothers cultures and opinions, but also to practice their English in the form of casual
conversation and participation. Per guidelines, I will also provide some instruction in French, and
will also be providing Bilingual newsletters on the class along with a calendar. Each student is
expected to follow the guidelines within the syllabus that is attached to this email. Please review
the syllabus with your child, and return the signature portion within a week.
If you have any general questions, you may email me per hours listed on the syllabus, and please
also return your preferred communication form for more productive updates. On a final note, I
am excited to work with you and best wishes!

Signed,
Jerry Quang

Dear Parent,

This is to inform you that _______________ has violated the policy regarding __________ as
defined within the classroom expectations and policies section in the syllabus. In accordance
with my policy, I have sent home a letter to address this issue, and additional consequences will
be administered if the behavior continues; however, I wholeheartedly believe that this is an
isolated incident, and will not occur in the future. I believe that each student struggles at some
point in their academic careers whether it is academically or behaviorally, and I also believe that
each student is able to reflect and improve themselves. Punition as stated in my syllabus is often
used as a last resort, and I must express to you that growth often takes root in adversity and
reflection. Below, I have listed possible consequences for persistent behaviors, and I once again
encourage you to take this opportunity to spur positive growth with your student.

1st offense: Notification to Parent

2nd offense: Reflection Prompt
3rd offense: Deduction of Grade, Parental Meeting.

Signed,
Mr. Quang
Dear Principal,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you, and also express my excitement
to demonstrate my passion for my subject area and further my professional development within
your school. To begin, my name is Jerry Quang, and my specialization lies within English and
EFL education. In terms of my experience within my field, I personally have taught students
from various countries at my previous employment, and I also have personal experience with
EFL as having gone through the struggles and growth that my students will gain within my
classroom. Having taught a wide range of students ranging from pre-emergent speakers to
advanced speakers, I have acquired quite a plethora of strategies and activities to spur growth;
furthermore, I must express that all of these are geared towards my philosophy of spurring a
peaceful coexistence between English and the students native languages rather than alienating
and creating a linguistic divide. I also possess a personal passion and philosophy of encouraging
students to find connections, and to bring their unique roots and perspectives into the classroom.
In accordance with my own personal philosophy, I wish for my classroom to be engaging to both
parents and students, and promote respectful and open communication. In terms of parents, I will
spur them to be engaging and active with their students through positive rather than negative
reinforcement, and this same principle will be applied to students as well. Punition in my opinion
is a means of a last resort, and my classroom syllabus is geared towards that response of
positivity for growth.
If you have any questions regarding my policies and procedures within the classroom, I have
attached my syllabus in this email, and I would be happy to meet you in person. In order to
promote open communication, I have also listed my contact information below.

Signed,
Jerry Quang
