Unit: Rocks and Soils Lesson: Review Time from: 10:35 to: 11:25
PURPOSE Why am I teaching this lesson? What do I want the students to know/to be able to do by the
end of the lesson that they could not do before? (LOs and SOs)
At the end of the lesson student will recognize the three types of rock and
rocks properties.
GROUPING: What is the group size? How is every student going to be able to participate? Will you be
differentiating and how?
I have five groups each group involves 5/6 students and I applied two differentiation
strategies for this lesson:
Flexible Grouping: which means that medium, high and low students are setting
in the same group, this will give students opportunities to interact with other
students in meaningful by dealing with wide range of peers alike and different from
themselves. Besides that, all of them working to reach same learning objectives.
Multi-leveled questions and activities: I created two kind of activities two for
the group working and one for the individual worksheet. Both of them aims to
review their prior knowledge of rocks types and properties. The first one group
activities includes labels and key words that they have to stick it in the
appropriate section. The second one individual worksheet includes fill in
questions and drawing which will allow them to apply what they learned during
lesson.
Extra Worksheet: I create an extra worksheet for the high-level students because
they might finish before the timer end up.

Possible Problems:
Problem (2): Student may take a lot of time sticking the individual worksheet in
their notebook
Possible solution (2): I will stick the paper in each students book before the
session.
Problem (3): Student may finish the worksheet or the group activity early.
Possible solution (3): I created an extra worksheet for them.
Misconception (1): students may do not remember the three types of rocks and
each property
