Philosophy of Teaching

Being a teacher is not an easy job, one must teach and help the students become the
person they are going to be for the rest of their life. A teacher has a lot of responsibilities when
teaching their students. Not only do the teachers have a lot responsibility, so do the students; they
need to be willing to learn. Not only should the teacher be teaching and helping the students, the
students need to ask their classmates before asking the teacher. For some students hearing the
information from a different point of view helps them better understand it.
Every student has their own role in a classroom that they should follow. Every student
needs to be willing to learn. The students need to work together and help each other out to get
through class and learn new things. They also need to be good listeners so they understand what
the teacher is saying, not only do they need to be good listeners they need to be able to speak up
when they are struggling. It is difficult for some students to speak up when they need extra help.
As an educator, we need to tell our students that is it okay to speak and say that they need extra
help. If the students come in with a positive attitude and know they can accomplish anything,
they will succeed in life.
Not only do the students have a role in the classroom but so do the teachers. All teachers
need to be a role model/leader and show their students that everyone is different, no one is
exactly the same. Teachers also need to have a lot of patients when working with students, no
matter what age you are teaching. To keep the students attention, the teacher needs to try and
make learning fun and interesting, we have all been in their shoes and know sitting in one place
for too long gets boring. They need to be able to connect with the students and connect the
information to the real world. Making connections to the real world will show the students why
the information is so vital. The only way the students will learn is if all teachers are committed to
their job and love what they are doing.
As an educator, one must continue to learn new things to keep make sure their students
are getting the best education possible. It is important to realize that teaching is full of surprises
and new situations and one must be ready to adapt, react and discover new strategies. Teacher
need to create an environment where the students feel safe and will want to go to learn. For some
students, the classroom will become their home and the teacher needs to make sure it is a place
they feel safe in.
