1 NEW FEATURES
This document includes information about both Nemo Invex I and Nemo Invex II HW platforms for
the 7.7.1 release. Please see the Nemo Outdoor 7.7.0 and 7.7.1 release notes for further
information about the new technology and software features.
Using SHIMs with the master chassis increases the capacity from five to nine test handsets; with the
slave chassis, capacity is increased from six to twelve test handsets. The new SHIM provides the
same functionalities as the two-slot-wide HIM. SHIM is available for Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge+
and Note 4 handsets.

INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Users can launch the Nemo Invex II maintenance tool from the Nemo Outdoor user interface via the
Nemo Invex Status view by selecting Update Nemo Invex. This will launch the default web browser
with the following URL: http://<base_ip> where the base_ip is the IP address of the first UIC in the
master chassis. By default it is 192.168.3.100. It should be noted that the web-based maintenance
tool is supported only with the Nemo Invex II platform. When using a smartphone to update the
system, Nemo Invex II Wireless Access Kit is required.
The maintenance tool can be used also for changing the base IP address of the system. This can be
done via settings.
Existing Nemo Invex II customers can download the Nemo Invex II maintenance service package
from the Nemo User Club or from an FTP server. Installation must be done to the first UIC module in
the master chassis. The initial version supports module updates but in case reimaging of the UIC
module is needed, the NIMT application (Nemo Invex Maintenance Tool) must be used. Reimaging
with Nemo Invex II maintenance tool will be supported in the next release.
Note 4 SM-G910F and S6 SM-G9208 power up sequence updated. This change improves the
startup devices

Dial-up and mobile broadband devices do not work (due to the limitation of WinPCAP)
NOTE! Only one active PEVQ-S connection is supported per UIC. Only one active PS
connection is allowed while executing PEVQ streaming. When multiple test handsets are
connected to the same UIC, a PS connection with only the test handset executing PEVQ-S
testing is allowed.
If a test handset has Nemo Media Router application installed, it prevents PEVQ-S testing
as NMR test handsets are always online. In that case, to run multiple PEVQ-S connections
simultaneously, a dedicated UIC is required with only one NMR test handset connected to
the UIC.
NOTE! Only one active video streaming (PVI) connection is supported/ UIC. To run
multiple PVI connections simultaneously, two or more UICs are required.

INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
NMR provides the real QoE measurements as all the services are running on a smartphone. A PC
user controls and runs the services on the phone via an NMR interface. The NMR application on the
phone transfers the KPIs related to the data transfer to the PC. NMR is the solution for current and
future technologies supporting high data rates, such as, using multiple LTE Cat 9 UEs on a single
CPU.
Key Benefits
Cost-effective and simplified. Ideal for benchmarking and running simultaneous LTE high-
speed UEs on a single commercial laptop with up to six handsets
Enhanced data capacity per CPU which means more devices per CPU with higher data rates
compared to running data services on a PC
Only one IP address (host address) for all test UEs with multi-configurations
No issues with PC CPU load lowering data rates. No need to tweak TCP/IP settings on the PC
Smaller (lighter) and cost-effective hardware and easy installation. In some cases no
permanent installation needed due to much lower overall power consumption
Data transfers can be made using the NMR interface where the protocol service is running on a
smartphone. User can select via the Nemo Outdoor device configuration settings the appropriate
method for performing data transfers. The NMR application must be installed on a smartphone and
have a valid license. If NMR is activated, all supported commands/services are always executed via
NMR. Commands/services that are not supported by NMR are automatically executed on the PC.
The user interface uses the same manual and scripted commands with NMR as with PC.
With voice quality measurements, the smartphone records the received sample audio files and
transfers audio files via the NMR interface to a computer in real time. The computer calculates the
PESQ/POLQA MOS scores and the values are written to the Nemo Outdoor log file. PESQ and POLQA
licensing will remain the same. NMR also supports multiple phones connected simultaneously to one
CPU. The maximum number of simultaneous connections with voice quality and data is six phones
connected to one CPU with Windows 8 OS and eight phones with Windows 7 OS.
2.8.1 New features in Nemo Media Router version 2.40 and 2.41
These versions include new features introduced in the following chapters, error corrections, and
enhancements that improve the reliability.
VoWiFi/ ViWiFi support. Test handset must have NMR installed before these measurements
can be supported.
Page 12
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Added WLAN radio on/off command (will be supported with Nemo Outdoor 7.8.0)
Improved device modem discovery response to load the correct handler automatically
Debug logging
o Debug logs help R&D to troubleshoot issues remotely. When Nemo Outdoor is
started in debug mode, each NMR handset connected to the measurement system
logs information to the Nemo Outdoor debug log file (.NBL)
Fixed: IP address assigned by the network is written to log file instead of network adapter
IP address
Reporting user abort status in DCOMP event instead of normal (affects FTP, SFTP)

8.5.1.3 Updating NMR from version 2.2x or older for the handsets used with handset
isolation modules
Prior to unmounting the Handset isolation module (HIM) make sure you have downloaded the NMR
application and Teamviewer applications from the Nemo User Club.
The handset isolation module needs to be unmounted and the power cable / data cables
disconnected from the Invex chasiss, and the cover must be removed by unloosening the screws.
Depending on the Invex platform the screws are located on top of the cover or on the rear of the HI
module. Unloosen the screws. Unloosen the handset from the isolation module and disconnect all
the cables from the handset. To remove the handset from Invex I HIM just unloosen the Velcro
tape. With Invex II HIM unloosen the two screws holding the white plastic corner blocks. Bend the
blocks and slide out the handset. You need a Torx screw driver to unloosen the screws. Disconnect
all cables from the handset. With the Invex I platform the existing power cable connected to UIC
module can be used to power on the handset. With Invex II platform a separate battery is needed
to power on the phone. Make sure you have a battery available for SGS5 or Note4 handset.
It is recommended to copy files to a USB flash drive e.g. Kingston DTDUO 16GB or similar
supporting micro USB port. Start the NMR application on the phone and change the mode to Mass
memory by clicking the USB (Outdoor) text if you want to use the flash drive. Plug the flash drive
to the handset. Alternatively use the handset browser and download the files directly from Nemo
User Club. Please see the Nemo Outdoor user manual for further information on how to install the
NMR application. After the NMR installation proceed with the TeamViewer application installations.
First install the TeamViewer QuickSupport and then the Add-On for Samsung. After installation
remember to change the mode back to Outdoor. Remove the battery from the handset or remove
the HIM power cable from HIM. Reconnect the data and audio cables to the handset, secure the
handset and close the cover. NOTE! For commercial use the TeamViewer license is required. Please
contact TeamViewer directly.
In the future opening the HIM is not required in order to update the NMR application as you can use
the remote UI connection from Nemo Outdoor user interface and check for updates by using the

9 KNOWN ISSUES
9.1 General
Please see also the Nemo Outdoor release notes and Test_Device_Technical_Notes for the known
issues related to the user interface, Nemo Media Router, and test devices.
When shutting down the system, it is recommended to close Nemo Outdoor before turning
the power off from the Nemo Invex chassis
It is highly recommended to set the event buffer size from 100000 to 50000 or even as low
as 5000 when the Nemo Outdoor application is used with the Nemo Invex system. This can
be done via the user interface properties.
9.2.1 Chassis
Preheat functionality is not currently implemented to the Invex firmware
9.2.6 UIC
When configuring Samsung Shannon based UEs without handset isolation modules, the
modem port of the test handset must be set to not used. If modem port is selected, the
device does not start.
Page 43
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Different UIC must control Nemo FSR1 and R&S TSMW scanners if used simultaneously
Max. up to five Samsung Note 4 handsets can be connected to the UIC. In case of mix
configuration e.g. 1 x SGS5 and 5 x Note4 connect the SGS5 to the first USB port. Connect
Note4s to USB ports 2-6.
9.2.7 HIM
The system management module does not show handset info when the selection button is
pressed from the HIM
LED indicator does not work when the USB data cable between the UIC and HIM is
disconnected
9.6.1 SMM
This issue is valid only for 7.6.1 or older releases. With later versions update time is
significantly reduced
SMM update takes about 45 minutes when one UIC is mounted to the master chassis. If the
master chassis includes more than one UIC, it is recommended to unmount other UICs from
the master chassis to speed up the updating process of the SM module.
The module version check does not work. NIMT updates the SMM module even though
modules have the latest FW.

INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Voice Quality scores on Shannon based devices are in some cases lower than on
comparable Qualcomm based devices. This may be caused by differences in behaviour
during i.e. handovers.
System locking (GSM/WCDMA/LTE) and Band locking (WCDMA/LTE) are supported, when
NMR is used with the device
o With LTE band locking does not work for TD-LTE bands. They are always enabled, if
the device supports TD-LTE.
When adding device to Outdoor, auto-detect may suggest Qualcomm handler. The user
must select Samsung from the dropdown list in the auto-detect dialog.
Sometimes the devices modem port may stop working. The issue is being investigated, but
there are no major drawbacks to set the modem port to Not used in Nemo Outdoor, when
Nemo Media Router is used with the device.
o When the device is to be used with Invex, the modem port setting must be set to
Not used
If the device does not have SIM card inserted, opening the modem port will always fail
Nemo Media Router is highly recommended. Without NMR some features may not work
correctly.
Page 45
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
On certain laptops the USB 3.0 functionality has to be disabled through the BIOS settings to
enable the correct behaviour of the device
VoLTE MTC calls do not work correctly. This issue is under investigation
Generic notes:
With some devices the modem port does not respond. This causes some features not to
work properly:
This can be worked around by using a headset connected to the phone and
the automatic answering is set up in the phones call/accessory settings.
o Forcing functions require manually rebooting the UE after issuing the command in
Nemo Outdoor
The issue is not valid when Nemo Media Router is used with the UE
o Auto-detection of the device does not work properly. Add the device manually as
explained in the dial-up guide, or start the device in offline after auto-detecting it
and set the modem port setting to <not used>.
o The state of the packet connection is not detected as reliably. This may cause some
problems with data connections.
o Call back requests to Nemo Server using DTMF tones do not work, instead the
Nemo Server Remote Configuration over packet data connection needs to be used
(Nemo Server must be connected to the internet)

Issues with USB2.0/ 3.0 ports. The following issue is valid with Dell M4600 and Lenovo
W510 laptops but might be experienced also with other computers including both USB 2.0
and USB 3.0 ports. If device has been installed to USB 3.0 port and then connected to USB
2.0 port in the same computer, it is possible that NDIS does not function correctly and data
connection cannot be done. Please update the Samsung USB driver to version 1.5.34.0 to
fix the issue. Driver can be downloaded from the Nemo User Club

When the PCTEL MX scanner is used with a Nemo Invex UIC-25 or UIC-100 module, other
devices must not be connected to the same UIC module.
When the MX scanner is used with a Nemo Invex UIC module, it is required to wait that the
Status/Power LED of the MX scanner receiver switches to green before adding the scanner
to Nemo Invex. If the device is added to Nemo Invex before the start-up is completed, it
may cause Nemo Invex to crash.
When an UIC-VQ or UIC-100 module is used for high-speed data testing (HSPA+/ LTE), a
scanner should not be connected to the same UIC module.
Nemo Invex UIC module includes preinstalled Huawei E392/ E398 driver. When plugging in
Huawei E392/ E398, the OS might ask the user to install a new driver. The user should
choose No to not install a new driver on such occasion.
Huawei connection manager starts up every time when device is plugged in. As a
workaround a connection manager .EXE file can be renamed. It still gives a reinstall
warning when the device is plugged in but this can be ignored.
Auto-detection should not be used to add the device because of two identical serial ports.
Add the device manually. See the dial-up guide for further instructions

GT-I9506 with Android 4.3 (does NOT apply to phones with Android 4.2.2)
Modem port does not respond. This disables the features that communicate through the
modem port (see list in the Generic issues for Samsung LTE handsets).
o With some devices the modem port does not respond. This causes some features to not
work properly:
This can be worked around by using a headset connected to the phone and the
automatic answering is set up in the phones call/accessory settings. By default
this option is set in the factory
Auto-detection of the device does not work properly. Add the device manually as

o UIC-200 required with LTE Cat 4 data testing if Nemo Media Router application is not used with
the test handset.
o If UE is used without the HIM module check that the mobile data setting is disabled from the
device. Pull down the menu from the top of the device screen and check that the mobile data
setting is grayed out. Also check that WiFi and Bluetooth are disabled.
Occasionally the device reboots itself for unknown reasons, but recovers by itself.
Auto-detection should not be used to add the device. Add the device manually. See the dial-
up guide for further instructions
Voice quality measurements are supported with Nemo Media Router v1.10.015. Handset
Isolation module support is not available
Check that the mobile data setting is disabled from the device. Pull down the menu from the
top of the device screen and check that the mobile data setting is grayed out. Also check
that WiFi and Bluetooth are disabled.
Two different COM ports are assigned for the UE. If auto-detection fails, change the trace
interface COM port number to the other one. For example, if COM ports 27 and 28 are
assigned for the UE and using port 27 fails to start the UE, change the trace port manually
to 28. See the dial-up guide for further instructions.
By default, the UE used with the handset isolation module is set by Anite to use auto
answering with a two-second delay. Enabling auto answer from the UE will significantly
improve the reliability of mobile-to-mobile voice quality calls avoiding muted calls. The auto
answer mode in Nemo Outdoor must be set to ignore. Setting can be found from
Menu|View|User Interface Properties|Measurements|Incoming call mode-> Ignore.
On very rare occasions, MOS DL results are missing with mobile-to-mobile voice quality
calls from the beginning of a phone call.
Page 52
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
When the UE is used with Nemo Outdoor, other UEs cannot be used simultaneously in data
testing if the NDIS interface is used to activate PS data connection. For example,
simultaneous data testing with Huawei LTE modem and Samsung Galaxy S III handset is
not possible. It should be noted that the issue does not limit using multiple Galaxy S III UEs
for simultaneous data testing or together with non-NDIS UEs, such as Nokia test terminals.
To be able to make voice calls the Trace interface 2 call method must be selected from
the Nemo Outdoor user interface via advanced properties.
Auto-detection should not be used to add the device. Add the device manually. See the dial-
up guide for further instructions.
UE is always online. This means that attach/ detach and PDP context activation/
deactivation commands cannot be used via Nemo Outdoor. Access point name (APN) is
recommended to be set to the phone manually. The phone can choose an incorrect APN by
itself (incorrect APN is sent in the PDN Connectivity Request message). This can cause
the packet session to fail (PDN Connectivity Reject) message is recorded with Unknown or
missing APN.
If data testing is done manually without script files, recording must be started before data
protocols can be accessed via Nemo Outdoor. Without recording, the data protocol options
in the UI are not available.
If data throughputs in LTE are lower than expected, it is recommended to adjust the buffer
size via Nemo Outdoor user interface, for example, to value 1024. It should be noted that
the buffer size must be adjusted separately for each protocol (e.g. for FTP and HTTP).
Data testing:
Settings -> More settings -> Mobile networks -> Mobile data enabled-> Enable
Settings -> More settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode -> AUTO
With GT-N7105 select Settings -> More settings -> Mobile networks -> Network Mode ->
LTE/GSM/WCDMA (Auto)
To be able to make voice calls the Trace interface 2 call method must be selected from
the Nemo Outdoor user interface via advanced properties. NOTE! When a voice call is
terminated, the PS data connection is released. MultiRAB testing is not recommended due
to this reason.

INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Commercial HiSilicon UEs cannot be used for measurements and are not recommended for field
testing with the Nemo Invex platform. Trace interface must be activated, which requires an activation
key provided by HiSilicon:
o A license request file must be generated using HUUT (Huawei UE Update Tool) and sent to
HiSilicon for license file generation
o A license update file will be provided in return and HUUT is used to update it to the device
Requirements:
o Trace capable HiSilicon UE (with activation license updated on the device) compatible with
Hisi UE Agent
o The HiSi UE Agent version and the trace activation license version must match. Old licenses
do not work with the new UE Agent 7.1.12 or later.
o HiSi UE Agent must be installed in the default installation folder. Only one version of the HiSi
UE agent can be installed at a time.
o License request created and license activated with HUUT version 1.3
This version was used with UEs delivered with Nemo Outdoor
version 7.2.1.7 and older
HUA_7.1.xx.exe
o License request created and license activated with HUUT version 1.5
Page 54
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
o Plug the modem to a USB port and install the driver from the modem if not already installed
It is recommended to uninstall any older drivers and install the driver from the UE
o Close the Mobile Partner that starts automatically (or other connection manager software the
variant uses). Mobile Partner can be renamed to prevent it from running at device
connection. It may still give some reinstall warning when the device is plugged in but this can
be ignored.
o HiSi UE Agent should start automatically, this can be confirmed from Windows' system tray
where a small icon for the agent appears. Device cannot go online in Nemo Outdoor before
the agent status is Connected. The status can be observed by double-clicking the agent icon
while Nemo Outdoor is starting the device.
o When the HiSi UE Agent status is connected, the handler goes online in Nemo Outdoor. If
going online takes too long, retry.
o Sometimes a restart of the HiSi UE Agent and/or the device is necessary if the device cannot
be successfully connected to Nemo Outdoor.
Generic issues:
o If the COM port numbers assigned to the device are too great (over 96), the HiSi UE Agent
may not be able to connect to the device. In this case you should remove unused devices
from Windows so that a smaller port number can be assigned for the HiSi device.
o Make sure there is no other Huawei connection manager software installed on your PC, it
might interrupt the connection.
o Sometimes it takes quite a long time to get the UE online with Nemo Outdoor and device
startup might fail due to timeout.
o HiSi UE Agent might crash sometimes and normally it is restarted by Nemo Outdoor. If the
HiSi UE agent does not respond, it must be restarted manually.
o The status of the LTE Channel (EARFCN) lock, LTE Sector (EARFCN+PCI) lock, and GSM
Channel (ARFCN) lock are not reported by HiSilicon devices. Make sure to remove all locks
after use. The GSM lock is reset when the device is rebooted, the LTE locks can be reset by
locking the device to a sector (EARFCN+PCI) and then removing the lock.
o Some of the WCDMA parameters stop working when the system is changed to GSM and back
to WCDMA.
o Some WCDMA parameters stop working randomly with HiSi UE Agent version 7.1.xx.
Every time the device is started, the diagnostic ports must be enabled:
Dial *#*#2846579#*#* -> Project Menu -> Background setting -> USB port
setting -> USB mode switch -> Switch to CP mode
Page 55
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
When using auto-detect to add the device in Nemo Outdoor, auto-detect lists a HiSilicon
device and a Qualcomm device. The HiSilicon device must be selected. The auto-detect
function will be fixed in a later version.
Some of the GSM parameters do not work if the device switches to GSM as the result of a
HO from WCDMA. The parameters will be unavailable until the termination of the active call.

10 TROUBLESHOOTING
Always update all software and firmware with versions in the same release package.
If the LED is solid red, open Nemo Outdoor in offline mode, open the Nemo Invex Status view and
click Restart in the context menu for the HIM. Wait for the restart to complete and check the
status LED again.
1. Open a remote desktop connection to a UIC and start the Nemo Debug Viewer.
4. In Device Manager, check for Anite HIM port. If the port is not visible and the USB cable
is functional, the HIM is faulty. Please contact Anite Network Testing requesting an
RMA.
Check the UIC USB port LEDs for fast red blink indicating HIM start-up is in progress. The
measurement server connections are blocked until all devices have started.
During measurement:
Open a remote desktop connection to the UIC running the server and check that there are
no crash dialogs open. For example, if the packet monitor crashes on the UIC, the
connection to the server will be lost.
Page 57
INTERNAL NEMO INVEX II RELEASE NOTES
Check the chassis serial number. Any serial number starting with a lower number than 1512
may not have all critical hardware updates. Contact Anite Network Testing.
Press chassis RESET button for all chassis in the setup and try again
If the chassis starts, but the low voltage indicator LED is red:
Please refer to chapter Error! Reference source not found. Error! Reference source
t found. or to the Nemo Invex II Vehicle Installation manual chapter 15.2 to check the
supply voltage level
Check voltage level provided by the car. Nemo Invex II system needs >12V input voltage to
start.
If the voltage is correct, press the chassis RESET button for all chassis in the setup and try
again.
If you are using the 7.4 backplane firmware in Nemo Invex II, it is recommended to update to 7.6
or later. There are many improvements on chassis-to-chassis and chassis-to-modules
communications.
