SOP Mercury Analyzer WA-4

1. Turn on the power switch on the WA-4 and allow the system to stabilize for 20
minutes.
2. For the PC connected to the WA 4, click on the WA-4 software icon and connect
the communication line between WA-4 and PC
3. During the 20 minutes standby, add the (1+1) buffer solution pH 7 into the
scrubber bottle
4. After 20 minutes of standby, press [START] on the operating panel to purge the
system
5. In the WA-4 software, go to SET UP MEASUREMENT CONDITIONS and select Gas
(Heating Vaporization) under CONDITIONS.
6. Select y = ax + blank under Calibration Curve
7. Select on the mercury range on the operational panel:
8. 0 to 20ng or 20ng (Peak Measurement)
9. 0 to 200ng or 1000ng (Integral Measurement)
10.Calibration Range is decided by the end user using MB-1 (Hg Std Gad Box)
11.In the WA-4 software, click on the [Sample Name] column and select [STD]
12.Click on the [Std (ng)] column and enter the calibration point by clicking on the
icon with a thermometer, based on current temperature shown on the MB-1.
13.After entering the calibration point, open the cap of the mercury collector orifice
on the MB-1, insert the needle of the micro-syringe into the small orifice of the
container, and extract the volume of the standard gas requirement.
14.Inject the collected standard gas into M-160 Hg collector tube via the septum on
the WA-4
15.Press [START] on the operation panel and the calibration begins
16.Repaet step 11 ~ 13 until completion of multiple-points calibration
17.Once calibration completed, sample analysis can be proceed. For sample
analysis, just transfer the sampled mercury collector tube (M-160) into the WA-4
for analysis one by one
