Unit Overview Demonstrate the important contribution economics can play in managing the environment and
understand and appreciate the many multidisciplinary aspects associated with modern
environmental problems; which have the potential to threaten human survival on our planet; the
Earth.

Learning Outcomes After successfully completing this unit, you will be able to:

1. Describe and demonstrate the fundamentals of key environmental economic concepts, and
alternative policy implications
2. Demonstrate an understanding of economic, social, political, cultural, financial and
institutional factors and their interconnectedness in relation to environmental matters in order
to contribute to current debates in this area
3. Analyse issues, and respect multiple points of view about environmental economics
4. Work independently and collaboratively and critically reflect on individual performance and
professional development.
