INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Read through the dialogue. Check any new words in your dictionary.
Step 2: Circle because or so to correctly complete each sentence.
Step 3: Check your answers with a partner. Make sure you have the same answers.
Step 4: Practice the dialogue with your partner. Switch roles and repeat.

DIALOGUE (PART I)

A: Summer break starts next week. Do you have any plans?

B: At the moment, I don't have any plans ( because / so ) school was too busy. I had to

study every day, ( because / so ) I didn't have time to make plans!

A: That's too bad! I already made plans, and I will got Australia for one month.

B: What will you do there?

A: I'm going to do a homestay for two weeks ( because / so ) I want to improve my

English. I'm going to study at a college too, and then I will travel around the country.

B: Is this your first time to go to Australia?

A: Yes, it is. It's the first time for me to travel overseas, ( because / so ) I'm a little

nervous.

B: Don't worry. Australia is a great place, ( because / so )

there's nothing to worry about.

A: Thanks for that. Hopefully, after school ends, you can

make some travel plans too.

INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Imagine that the summer has ended. Work with a partner and imagine the two friends
talk about their vacations. Use because and so at least four times in your dialogue.
Step 2: Decide the place. Is it a book store, coffee shop, or train station? Make any changes to
the dialogue, if needed.
Step 3: Practice the dialogue aloud with your partner. Pay attention to the place!
Step 4: Optional. Add some gestures and/or props.
Step 5: Perform the dialogue in front of another group and/or the whole class!
