Work place
YEAR 02, AUTUMN 2011
PROGRAM
RESULT
We studied the students and teachers schedules and worked with dividing the schools facilities
after use and needs. On the first floor creative subjects exists, which simplifies loading of heavy
furniture, equipment and musical instruments. The music hall is positioned as a core of the build-
ing adjacent to the library and cafe. The stairs outside becomes part of the room and acts as its
furniture / scene.
There are two entrances to the second floor where there is a common area and two home areas for
year 6-7 and 8-9. The traditional classroom is replaced by home areas where students feel safe. This
is to save on large classrooms that are not always used, and a method of work at the school who
seek places to work in smaller rooms.
REFLECTION
We focused a lot on the course title Work place. In this course we read The Pleasures and Sor-
rows of Work by Alain de Botton and discussed the different environments and todays approach
to work.
We experimented a lot with work environments in a secondary school where you want to feel
secure but at the same time find a way to redistribute the working areas. I think it was interesting
to investigate and examine how they can find a homely environment during a period where you go
from child to adult. Being out of school and meet students and teachers gave a good understand-
ing of the task.
Wooden lahs are laid outside the facade to achive
more transparancy between the two buildings.

PROGRAM
RESULT
I used the historical footprint of the old harbour as inspiration for a garden combined with a
pond also taking care of excessive rainwater. A protected area to enjoy the water.
I was inspired by the psychological tests made on humans that have access to a window shortens
their recovery time in hospitals. I think its important that there are more green spaces in the city
that also serve as meeting places.
REFLECTION
In this project, I worked a lot with green city areas and reflected on the citys public spaces, the
significance and the importance of a pleasant public space.
I chose to extend the block structure of the existing city that also resists wind well, but it would
be interesting to test a new type of structure. I think the concept of the park with water is strong,
which became my main focus, with more vivid space and green element in the city. I sketched and
took impressions of the place which gave great inspiration for the project.
I decided to include the project because its on the same site that my bachelor project is situated.

BUILDING AS A SYSTEM
YEAR 03, AUTUMN 2013
ASSIGNMENT: Hotel
SITE: kareplatsen, Gothenburg.
ADVISOR: Magnus Mnsson
PROGRAM
- Create a place that contrasts with all the stress and traffic that surrounding
the location. The building will become a part of life at the gate.
- The shape of the building footprint and floor heights are determined.
RESULT
The entrance consists of a tall room that extends through the entire building. It also serves as a
light shaft for hotel rooms with a usable space below. Met by a plant wall that also serves as a stair-
way between level one and two. The construction consists of pillars that enhance the height of the
room. Material choices follows the stone city which is then taken over by nature.
It was important to divide the flows in the building for staff and guest operations. You reach
cleaning rooms from the cleaning elevator, kitchen from the changing rooms, garbage disposal
from the bar out to the street, loading takes place without transparency from the guests.
REFLECTION
I gained a much deeper understanding of building engineering systems and flows, something I fantomen 06 1987
brought with me in my way of seeing and assessing buildings. The shape was more or less set by [travail] work [travel] travel
the assignment, so I focused most on the design of the entrance hall of the building, I think that
The link between the French word [travail] and the English [travel] has
the result was a good interaction between technical systems and concepts. The frames outside the
been a central point of the vision for the building. The curiosity of the
building may be odd, but also a bit of fun and space shaping sculptures in a north facing space. I journey set against the industrious. The vision of the entrance has been to
like the idea of using plants as part of the architecture. I was very inspired by brick architecture, create a contrasting location to the busy traffic. A sense of space and light. A
something that I would like to learn more about. place where nature is allowed to grow over the surrounding gray stone city.

YEAR 03, SPRING 2013
PROGRAM
RESULT
A centre for exhibitions and installations focusing on photographic art, 2D-photography, moving
images and video where the people involved in the building has a great impact on what is hap-
pening and how it is used. There are open workspaces, movie watching opportunities, you can
hold seminars, workshops or exhibit. The buildings shape is a working medium of the arts with
integrated exhibition space, projection surfaces, dark and bright rooms.
The building frames three sight lines, the view of the harbour, the river and the city. It provides a
sheltered patio under a roof that is always open to use.
REFLECTION
When I wrote the program, I took inspiration from an essay I wrote on the Philips Pavilion by
Le Corbusier, Xenakis and Varse. A building that was constructed for the World Exhibition in
Brussels in 1958. An electronic poem; a multimedia collaboration with experiments with light,
image and sound. I was inspired by their work and enjoyed Le Corbusiers vision that the visitors
should enter and then digestive into a new person.
The focus was on creating not only a place for photography but also an open public building and
inside art becomes integrated into the everyday life and more accessible. The outside space under
the roof can become a protected area that is always open.

ANIMATION DESK
FURNITURE CARPENTRY YEAR 01, SPRING 2014
PROGRAM
RESULT
A box that landed on four legs. I let the desk be open underneath for the light to reflect
in the glass plate to spread the light around the room. I put in programable LED lights that
are still or flashes at different speeds in different colors. Beside the glass plate is space for the
computer and multiple electrical outlet is situated underneath to collect all outgoings through
one cable.
The table has a height where I can stand up and work, move around photos or graphics
without bending me and where I can sit and work with drawings on a higher chair.
refleCtion
The work took five weeks including drawing work. At the carpentry school planning of
the work was important; how much wood to be ordered including waste and which working
methods to be used, where each stage of work is written down and estimated the time. At the
workshop I follow my list and dont have to calculate anything. The careful planning is some-
thing I incorporated in architectural work and other projects.
The desk was my first major project where I was taught the importance of the woods move-
ment, how to use the woods direction to exploit its strength.
