Describe how you would use the Online Project/Collaboration Site/Publishing Opportunity in
your classroom: Students will be given a writing assignment based on an event in their life. Using
their writing skills and once completed, they will post their writing on KidPub. KidPub is an
online publishing site, which gives the students an opportunity to share their work with others.
Students can win prizes and rewards if entering a monthly contest given on KidPub.
What technologies would be required to implement this proposed learning activity in a
classroom? Students would need a computer or laptop to complete their work and to share with
others.
Describe how the following features are addressed in this learning experience (note: all of them
may not be addressed in the project, but most should be if you are reaching a high LoTi Level.):
a. Collaboration with peers, near-peers, mentors outside their classroom and often
beyond their school: Students can share their work with others beyond their
school and with their peers.
b. Student-centered learning and knowledge creation (collecting original data and or
producing original products as a result of engaging in the project): Students
produce their own writing and publish what has been written. They can view other
students work as well.
c. Higher-order thinking: Students can create, share and collaborate with others.
d. Students publishing their original work to others who will use/care about their
product: Yes, students will be publishing their own work, and others may view and
use the work produced. Students can to win prizes for monthly contests.

What Level of Technology Implementation best describes this learning activity and Why? This
would be a LoTi5 because students are publishing and sharing work, but also have a teacher
there to help if needed. Students at a higher level of technology are to create their own guidelines
while provided the resource used online.
How could you implement this proposed learning experience and still comply with your districts
Internet Safety and Student Privacy policies?
Use of technology in the classroom would be monitored by the teacher. Students will be told the
guidelines and safety of the internet. No student should be seen on a website not approved by the
teacher. If a student is found somewhere they shouldnt they could be taken off the computer for
the day and contact parents for the concern of safety for their child. Students should be told and

know never to put their full name on any assignment online or their grade level. Teacher must
approve before publishing.
