5.1 Place of Internship:

During the practical training part I choose Hajicamp branch which is located in Dhaka North
zone at ashkona (In front of airport). Mr. Khalequzzaman is the AVP and Branch Manager of
Hajicamp.

Internship program is a partial program for BBA. For the completion of this internship program I
have chosen a bank Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd.

As usual IBBL has offered online form filling opportunity for internship program on 10 th
December 2016. And I was selected by IBTRA (Islami Bank Training and Research Institution)
for doing internship from IBBL. IBTRA provides us a structured training that is not available in
other banks.

This part will give a brief idea about my duties and responsibilities over the two months in Islami
Bank Bangladesh Ltd. From the first day of my joining in Islami Bank I have given some
responsibilities. Through this internship program I have gathered practical knowledge about the
corporate world. I worked there for 08 Weeks. For these 08 Weeks I worked in various
departments. I was trained at IBBL in two ways. I got -

i. Theoretical Training
ii. Practical Training
a) Theoretical Training:

I was trained theoretically from 08th January to 22nd January at IBTRA. Here, I have done class
with the faculties, co-coordinators, Director General of IBBL and also special guests who were
successful in different sectors.

b) Practical Training:

After getting the theoretical knowledge, I was sent to specific branches to collect practical
knowledge about the activities and operations of IBBL. For my transport facility, I choose
Hajicamp branch.

5.2 Theoretical Training:

a) Organizations Culture for Islami bank

Organization culture of IBBL is quite different than other conventional banks. They exchange
Salam when entering the office. I used to exchange greetings by salam when entering the office.
There is another culture in IBBL that they complete their prayer salah in Jamat timely. And after
Asar, they do various discussions on Quran, Hadith, Islamic Finance and Banking. One day I saw
that they did some training on Money Laundering at 4.10 p.m. they behave very politely with
customers as they are main part of organization. So, the organization culture can be pointed as
below:-

b) Time Management

Time is a valuable asset. Time management is a strategy that people get into grape without
wasting time. That means utilize their time according to preplan. The main theme of time
management is completed right job at limited time.

Time management refers to the way that I organize and plan how long I spend on specific
activities.

Some effective ways of time management

Greater productivity and efficiency


A better professional reputation
Less stress
Increased opportunities for advancement
Greater opportunities to achieve important life and career goals
Make a structure for work
Setting goals
Prioritizing those goals

IBBL is very much strict about Time management. Their Office hour started from 10.00 am and
after 10.10 am the register khata is delivered to the manager. I also maintain this rule.

c) How to behave with clients:

To know the customer before providing services is very important.

Customer is the most important visitors on any types of organizations premises. Any business
depends on customer. A customer is considered as a part of organization. IBBL also depends on
customers. So it is very important to serve them the best service.

Customer service is set of behaviors which an organization undertakes during the time of
interaction.

Some Manners to behave with clients: Manner is very important in customer service. We know
that education is important but more important is behavior. The manners are -

Welcome manner
Reception desk manners
Guiding manners
Listening manners
Talking manners
Letter writing manners
Telephone manners
Professional knowledge and skills develop in the field of customer service.

d) Some Strategy to provide best services

Welcome and service with smile face


We should give importance to the needs of customer.
We should not become angry.
We should develop our work than previous day.
We should attract customers by providing best services.
We should co operate them.
We should try to exceed customers satisfaction
We should analyze the critical situation

Managing customers expectation is also very important. I was asked to behave such a way that
we can fulfill customers satisfaction.

5.3 Practical Training:

This is the real experience of working in the bank. I have done two months practicum in IBBL.
During working (08th January to 08 March 2017), I get to know about many things. Here I have
to perform a variety in different departments. My job description I given below:

a) Accounts opening and Information Section

I have worked 8 days in this section. This section is one of the busiest sections in this branch.

Clients wanted to know the balance of their accounts by coming to this branch personally or by
phone. They came to collect bank statement or to change- address, sign, nominee, wanted to
transfer their account to another branch or sometimes to close their accounts. I also helped the
clients to update their account information required by Bangladesh Bank.

While working in this section I became introducer to many SMSA, MSS and MTDR accounts.
However, I did not get the opportunity to open current account, because of its complexity and I
am not a current account holder. In this section, I got the chance to interact with the customers
more and asked them question about the bank and the employees.

b) Clearing Section

In this section I have also worked for 1 day. The main responsibility was to receive several
cheques from clients. I also attached seal in the front and the back side of the cheque for clearing.
My task was to ensure account number, account holder name, the accuracy of amount written in
figures & words are properly stated in cheques and check if there was any over-writing anywhere
in amount or date. After confirming these cheques were sent clearing.

I was not responsible for the clearing entry into the computer & completing other tasks. Herein, I
also learned about the Regular & High value cheque.

c) Cash Section

I worked 1 day in the cash section. Here I learnt about 4 types of notes: Issue, non-issue,
mutilator and build up note. I also learn how to do the cash section working.

d) Alternative Delivery Channel

I worked in this section 3 day. Here I learnt about i-banking, mobile banking and m-Cash. These
are alternative delivery channel for transaction. But I could not work with computer software.

e) Foreign Remittance Section

In this section, I have worked for 2 days. First, I got to know about of money transfer mediums,
country code and PINs. Here I got to learn about how clients can withdraw money from the bank
sometimes without having an account in the respected bank or deposit money coming from
abroad. Withdrawing money is not very difficult and it is very popular service provided by the

f) Investment Section

I worked total 14 days in this section. IBBL is one of the most profitable banking organizations
in Bangladesh since the last few years due to the unique investment process of the bank. I had to
study different clients files and discuss different investment related issues like the process of
taking and giving investments, choosing the targeted customers, calculating the portion of profit
and installment amount, documents needed to execute the investment etc. with the supervisor
MD. Mehedi Hasan, Principal Officer.

I had the privilege to gain knowledge of the mechanisms of Islamic investment. What are the
different modes of investment, why customers choose this particular bank for investment, how
the bank selects their customers for investment, the documents and paper-works need to
complete the procedure all these stuff I learned practically. The project part reflects the
knowledge of my learning.

End of the day of practical training session, Hajicamp branch make few hours for internee and
make us surprise to make farewell program. On that program G.M.Mohd. Gias Uddin Quader,
Vice President and head of branch, give a motivational speech couple of minutes. Here I attach
