Project Title: Welding Techniques

A. Project Abstract: (Refer to the detailed information located in the proposal/letter of intent)
My product will be to build a charcoal grill that is portable and easy to use and maintain. It can be used in everyday life to grill meats and cook food for my family. I
am going to build it mainly at school. I want to build this grill because I want to pursue a welding career in the future. I thought of this idea from my friends that
thought it would be a good idea. The importance is that it will allow me to learn how to build a real product that is usable. My audience would most likely be the
construction teacher, metals teacher, and CTAE director. I am mainly going to use carbon steel and expanded metal as materials for the grill.

B. Learning Skills: (List 2-4 specific goals and how they will stretch you)
Goal/Skill How will you be stretched

Blueprints I must make sure I fully understand the blueprint to build the product.

Organizing I have to organize all the parts to make sure the pieces go in the right place

Welding The welds need to look clean and even on the product.

Presenting I must prepare myself to give a clear presentation.

C. Project Steps: (If you need more lines, simply go into the last provided line and tab over)

Step/Major Estimate of time F. Resources: (consider both people and things you will When will this be
Component required Expense? need) completed?
(with brief (if
description) expected)

Gathering Materials Approximately 5 Days To be Different Metal: Flat Bar, Expanded Metal Pipe By November 26
determined

Building Hitch attachment About a few days To be Welding Machine, Electrode, Machinery By March 25
determined

Building Frame About a few months To be Welding Machine, Electrode, Machinery By March 25
determined

Adding Details About a few months To be Welding Machine, Electrode, Machinery By March 25
determined

Website Approximately 2 weeks None Computer, Internet By April

D. Project Justification: This project is perfect for me since it will help me develop skills necessary to put everything I have learned together to begin fabricating
products. It will be something new to me but also needed to continue my education in a welding career. I have some skills for welding but I have not worked on a
project for myself before. It is going to be challenging to figure out the placement of my parts for my product and designing a blueprint for the product. The website
will show my progress on the product as I continue to work on it until it is done.

E. Product Justification: I am going to build the grill mainly out of carbon steel. There will be some expanded metal to be used as the grate and sheet metal as
decoration. This product is going to help me learn what my career will actually be like when it comes to building in the real jobsite.

G. Academic Integrity: Academic integrity is moral values that include avoiding plagiarism and cheating. That is very important in this project because cheating
on this project will not help me learn anything and develop my skill set as a welder. I am going to take pictures and actual videos of my progress on the grill to
prove that is was not someone else doing the work for me.
